did not meet my expectations
I will start by saying I find these uncomfortable. I feel it in my nose every second and after several hours it's bordering on painful. I bought these to hopefully provide some protection from germs at a job where I am not allowed to mask. I also have bad allergies so hoped they would help with that as well. The biggest issue with these is that they are rendered useless by snot. If you have a runny nose, as us allergy victims often do, the snot will slowly soak the mesh until you can't breathe. It will also run out around the edges and you can't blow your nose with them in. Once removed, it is not possible to put the same pair back in without at least somewhat contaminating the inside of your nose with whatever the mesh has trapped. So how long one pair lasts is based solely on how long I can go without blowing my nose, which might only be an hour. If you happen to sneeze it's game over. I did buy the sizing pack first which was helpful. If they are flipping around or turning sideways in your nostril as another review mentioned, use a bigger size. They don't look super obvious and the little rubber band that stays on the outside is small and not very noticeable, especially since I already have a septum piercing I feel that it just blends in.

Update after two months in the high pollen season in SW Ohio. I am glad I found these filters!
UPDATE: Pollen season started more than a month ago in SW Ohio. I have been using one filter/day for about 2 months. My nose allergy symptoms have significantly decreased. I only use my allergy nasal spray at night, before bed; and, maybe once a week, I take an oral antihistamine for some whole-body allergic symptoms. Before the nose filters, I had to take oral antihistamine daily from March to the first frost, in addition to my allergy nasal spray. To check the efficiency of the filters, one day I decided not to use them. By midafternoon, my nose was bright red, itching, and running like crazy. So, the next day, before I put the filters on, I did a nasal rinse. I have not stopped using the filters daily since, and now things are much better, like before. I have been using both types of filters, the 3M and the Welder's version. Both work for me, with the 3M being more comfortable. I put them on as soon as I wake up, and I take them out right before going to bed, because I sleep with a CPAP. I do not know if people notice them, or if they are just being polite by not asking me about them. It does not matter to me. I will continue using them as needed. They are really a life-changing devices, for the better. My first time. I got the Trial Size, and like with the Welder's version, the XL is the winner. My review is a comparisson with the Welder version, which I tried for the first time yesterday, for more than 12 hours straight. I did the same with the 3M. The 3M version is softer, its "presence" in the nose is easier to ignore. Because of its softeness, the 3M version is a touch harder to accomodate inside the nose. I had to try several times, whereas with the Welder's version it was easier. Once properly set, it does its job of filtering what is supposed to filter. Same as the Welders' version. I am "sensitive" to one of my cats, and with either one of the filters I had no issues whatsoever. Both did not cause any irritation whatsoever inside my nose. One interesting observation: With the 3M version, I can see the filtration membrane moving back-and-forth as I inhale/exhale; whereas with the Welders' version I could not. So, my conclussion is: you cannot go wrong with either one. If you prefer the slight better comfort inside the nose, in spite of being a little harder to insert properly, go with the 3M. I am going to have both versions with me, for now. It is not Spring here in SW Ohio yet. That will be the next real test for me. Then, I plan to travel to the Caribbean (forever Spring) in the summer. Another real test for me. Then, at the end of summer, ragweed season. That is the nuclear test for me!! I will update me review then.

Poor execution and sizes
Great in theory, but poor execution. 1. There should be a size in between the large and medium. Theres a big difference in the two which is unfortunate. That would be the PERFECT size 2. The filter essentially had a hole 3. Hard to adjust both sides correctly without one folding over if adjustments are needed I finally got both sides to fit in correctly, but the filter was coming apart and sticking out of my nose. Not cool. If you wiggle your nose it may move and it’s hard to get both sides back in without one side folding over. Tried all of them so many times. The biggest could work, but it pushed my nose out and looked weird.

Not sure if this works, people unfortunately see it and ask about it and it doesnt stay all day so you would touch it with your hand and that is not good

I am now satisfied with these but you should basically ignore the fitting guide. These are meant (apparently) to be fully inserted in the nostrils with the plastic half-ring tight against your septum. For me - as soon as i tried fitting them this way it wasn't long before at least one of the filters would turn side-ways in one of my nostrils resulting in ineffective filtration. There doesn't seem to be anything to grip them and keep them in place when fully inserted. However - what i noticed was is that there is a groove in the design of the filters. I found that by inserting them at the very edge of my nostrils i could get this groove to slot in-between and grip the cartilage at the entrance of the nostrils. I have demonstrated this with some pictures that i have added. Once slotted in place at the entrance of the nostrils they stay put (at least for me) but ONLY if you purchase a size one size larger than actually fits you. I initally bought the medium size - which was about the right size for me and although these slotted in ok and were comfortable there was still enough 'play' in them to eventually work themselves loose, (but not always). I then bought the large size - at first i found them uncomfortable as they really did stretch my nostrils but i soon got used to this. I also found them MUCH easier to breath through than the medium set as my nostrils were being forced wider. The extra size kept them firmly in place and they have not come loose since. The only difficulty is in the initial fitting as the larger size takes some practice to slot into place. Although they are more noticeable when inserted at the entrance of the nostrils they are still far less noticeable than walking around with a face mask on all the time. Once used i then remove them and clean them with an alcohol wipe and store them in the provided carrying case. I keep using the same set until they begin to darken and then i switch to a new set. I have also noticed that if i breath in through my nose and out through my mouth i get less 'runniness' in my nose. It is a real pain having to remove them to blow your nose. All in all i am now happy with them and i will continue to use them - i hope this review has been helpful.

Really difficult to fit in the nostrils in the way that prevents it from falling off.
