Skyscan Desktop 25-1300MHZ Scanner Antenna

The antenna comes partly assembled only requiring the magnetic base and stand, the downward-facing rods and the 4 horizontal rubber-duck-style antenna to be screwed in. I had some trouble with one of the rods which wasn't properly threaded and would not screw in, but I have some dies so managed to put a thread on it. But I am sure it would make no difference if I could not have screwed it in. The whole antenna is about 2 feet high when on its stand, so not as big as it looks in some photos. The magnet is also very strong so watch your gingers when mounting it on a metal groundplane e.g. car roof or filing cabinet. It definitely improves the signal I am getting on my Uniden scanner. I listen to Stanstead and Luton and now I am managing to pick up the aircraft and the traffic controller clearly whereas I was only picking up the aircraft clearly before. Great antenna.

I am a "Radio ham" and bought this antenna as an add on for my "Malahit" receiver for exploring VHF and UHF but it actually rrovides amazing reception to way below the Quoted 25mHz. Useful down to 7MHz. anyway Built like a tank. Solid Aluminium Ground plane radials and stainles steel elements. With judicious use of locktite on the threads and self amlagamating tape hear and there I don't see why it couldn't be used outside. I must repeat the performance of this antenna really is astomishing

It's a solidly constructed aerial with quite a few bits and pieces to assemble to make an effective and reasonably priced antenna, that offers a clear reception attached to my STL-SDR v3 dongle. Not ideal for indoor use, that could just be my location though, but brilliant reception at the park stuck on the car roof. Conclusion: Would I recommend it? Yes and mainly because it remains fairly portable and I can't complain about the reception quality.

Great antenna! Signals are much better with this compared to the previous antennas I was using. Its large, but not too large that it is in the way (depending on where you place it)

Perfect Ariel for my Scanner, Picks up Air Traffic Control, Aircraft, and Marine Traffic with NO problems, even Picks Up the Weather Warnings from Holyhead Coastguard as I am in Liverpool, with NO Problems, I also use it with a Adaptor for both my Television and Radio and receives the DAB analogue Radio and Digital TV with NO problems.

Arrived very promptly and well packaged. Requires a little bit of assembly which was easy to do without any special tools. Connected to a Nooelec SMART dongle with a BNC to SMA adapter. With this antenna connected I can immediately receive over a better range of frequencies and see stronger signals on those that I could already pick up. Will need to experiment with placement, and it has a fairly wide footprint with the ground plane elements so it needs some clearance. Will struggle on a shallow window sill. As a casual user who enjoys exploring RF as part of a broader interest in electronics, I think that this is a very good choice.

Well made and easy to put together, very well packaged, and remarkably good results even though it’s sitting on the floor of my thick-walled attic room.

Good sensitive aerial. But use with a receiver with good image rejection
