It's been 40 years since Laurie Strode survived a vicious attack from crazed killer Michael Myers on Halloween night. She now faces a terrifying showdown when Michael returns to Haddonfield, Ill. -- but this time, Laurie is ready for him. In Halloween (2018) Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her iconic role as Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago. Master of horror John Carpenter executive produces and serves as creative consultant on this film, joining forces with cinema’s current leading producer of horror, Jason Blum (Get Out, Split, The Purge, Paranormal Activity). Inspired by Carpenter’s classic, filmmakers David Gordon Green and Danny McBride crafted a story that carves a new path from the events in the landmark 1978 film, and Green also directs. Bonus Features Include:Deleted ScenesBack in Haddonfield: Making HalloweenThe Original Scream QueenThe Sound of FearJourney of the MaskThe Legacy of Halloween Review: Great film - Great film Review: The stuff of nightmares! - It's not the original and it won't do what the original did for horror but what it does achieve is to bring the greatness of John Carpenters Halloween back for a modern day audience. As a fan of Halloween I've seen the franchise rollercoaster up and down more times than a yoyo but fans always want more. Michael Myers is a legend that symbolizes our inner most fears and gives us release from a reality which is far scarier than any horror film. We still need to be scared and Halloween touches on all of our nightmares and uncertainties but with in the safe environment of our own home were darkness can be looked upon at a safe distance. Where there is light there is dark and the two run side by side as Laurie Strodes light has gone or has been lost into the darkness of The Shape which haunts her. She needs to end her suffering by ending Micheals Evil and saving her family in the process or forever be imprisoned by the memory of Halloween night 1978. The return to Haddonfield 40 years later is eerie as it feels so similar to the first film almost like its waited for us as we have lived our lives and grown older somethings stayed the same and are just standing there until the right moment to reveal themselves................Spooky thoughts! And theres a lot of attention to detail in this new Halloween film by the director David Gordon Green who has never made a horror film before unbelievably he has done such a good job. To wrap it all up this is a good and solid horror that many of us feel is a modern classic with its roots in the original film becoming the second favorite Halloween inside Halloween like a dream with in a dream. Unpleasant dreams to you X

The stuff of nightmares!

Modern day slasher and the perfect Halloween sequel
When I heard they were rebooting the Halloween franchise, again, I was a little dubious at first. However, I needn't have worried. This sequel/reboot works near perfectly, no mean feat, considering the lineage and legacy of the franchise. The collaboration between the original director and writer, horror maestro John Carpenter, the current director, David Gordon Green and the producer Jason Blum, via his Blumhouse studio, was a stroke of genius. Infusing a 40-year-old legend for a modern audience, with enough nods to the past, while bringing it into modern day, was a near-perfect premise. Bringing the 'scream queen' Jamie Lee Curtis back as the protagonist was an excellent touch, as it sees her character, Laurie Strode, preparing herself and her family for the day, when the fearsome Michael Myers is loose and back to his murderous ways. And, as there's no show without punch, the inevitable happens, Michael manages to escape and cause havoc in Haddenfield once more! Unlike some 'requels', this instalment isn't bogged down by dozens of flashbacks or unnecessary plot points; instead, it builds up slowly, re-establishing older characters and introducing new ones. It's done tactfully and with purpose. There's tension, gore, gruesome deaths, scares, action and another haunting Carpenter score with the iconic Halloween theme. Is it a modern classic? Only time will tell. The subsequent follow-ups didn't strike the same chord as this one—a worthy instalment in the Halloween franchise and a very worthy sequel to a Hollywood classic. The sound and picture quality on the Blu-ray are excellent.

An almost perfect follow up to a film that has already had so many sequels.
*** Minor Spoilers Ahead *** I can honestly say that reading the articles about this film prior to its release, I was dubious and a little nervous. The idea that every film that occured after the original film had been retroactvily erased from existance as far as the this new film is concerned seemed so much of an abuse of power that I almost did the stupid thing of not bothering with this film. I should know by now that listening to “journalists/reviewers” is a bad thing as they usually have some alterior motive behind their review or article. The concept that Blumhouse and Carpenter developed was a masterwork. I am amazed that it hadn’t been thought of before. The idea that Laurie (Jamie Lee Curtis) Strode had spent the forty years after that Halloween night preparing herself and her family for what she saw as an inevitability - Micheal Myers back on the streets one day. We aren’t hampered by scene after scene of flashbacks of what happened, the few flashbacks that did happen were crucial to the plot and would have made the film a lot worse had they not been there. The whole cast are very good and take us into modern day Haddonfield. I have to mention Jamie Lee Curtis once more, just because she is... well... Jamie Lee Curtis. The things horror fans need to know about this film. 1. The kills are well filmed and are plentiful 2. The score to the film is classic Carpenter - nothing is overblown or out of place. 3. There are a couple of jump-scares that will get your heart racing and remember why the original Halloween became the classic of the genre it did. I really want to give Halloween more that just the five stars, but Amazon tell me I can’t. So, I’ll just say it. This film deserves more thann 5 stars... once you have watched it, tell me you don’t agree.

Halloween H40
A very enjoyable movie a direct sequel to the original as they wanted to forget the previous movies in the series. Jamie Lee Curtis is back as Laurie strode and gives a fantastic performance as her character struggles with PTSD the tone of the movie remains the same and is very gory in parts and Michael Myers is more vicious and remorseless when it comes to his victims. The rest of the cast put in very solid performances including the always underrated Judy Greer and Nick Castle whom played Michael in this and the 1978 movie. For fans of the original I would highly recommend this to you.
