ELEGOO Mega 2560 Project The Most Complete Ultimate Starter Kit

Got it for my boyfriend we haven’t talked in days so I’d say it’s working great!! Has all the things you need for beginner, easy to use, great quality and fun

An awesome kit for anybody interested in electronics or the Arduino. The specialized components (displays, sensors, modules) are all solidly built and the smaller components that I have used all worked fine. The Arduino programs pretty easily and is easy to connect to your PC or laptop with no hassles. All of the wiring in the kit (jumpers,, etc) worked well on the 5 or 6 projects I have done so far on the kit. Who is this kit for? Anybody interested in STEM at a beginner level. The value for what you get in this kit is pretty awesome too.

I rarely give feedback on products and even more rarely give them 5 stars. This is a comprehensive starter kit at a very competitive price. I also bought the separate 37 sensor kit. There are so many gadgets in both these kits it will take me months to get through all of them. Yes, there are some misspelled words and other minor issues, but I think the company really put their heart into assembling a great product. And they freely give their contact information out in many places and want you to contact them with issues. Some other complaints are around getting started and using the product with the instructions provided. I was able to install everything and control an LED light with sample code in 8 minutes, not kidding. But you have to realize this is not a kids toy, these are real engineering components here. Its up to you to learn, problem solve and create what you want from the components as opposed to being a step by step kit. That's the whole fun of it. Those with a technical or engineering background will be at an enormous advantage. You must learn how to program using C code and research how the components work. For example, I was unable to get the stepper motor to work from this kit with the example stepper motor code that comes with Arduino IDE. But that's because the example code is for a different stepper motor and there are many different kits out there with different types of stepper motors. I took me two hours to learn about stepper motors and was able to write my own code to control it. I'm lucky to have an engineering background with a little bit of C code experience so I could see someone taking much longer to figure out the stepper motor issue or giving up completely. If you really want to learn Arduino, you can. Be patient, buy books like Programming Arduino by Simon Monk, browse forums, watch YouTube tutorials, etc. So I'll summarize by saying that this is a great product and ships as advertised. I suspect many frustrations are because this is a fairly advanced kit and not a toy. Thank you for reading my review and good luck. UPDATE: I spent more time going through the sample code provided by Elegoo and the stepper motor code they provided works perfect. My comments above were based on my grabbing the code that comes with Arduino IDE which was incompatible. Again, I think the kit is great. Probably most negative feedback coming from misunderstanding how to use everything.

The product was a gift for my grandson 300 miles away so I haven't had "hands on" experience yet. I did evaluate the build quality before wrapping and I was impressed. As an EE design engineer with 50 years experience, I notice things like the quality of solder joints, mechanical structure, and overall concept. All good. The number and variety of modules was also good. The only disappointment so far was the advertised data CD was not included. The excuse (just that!) was to minimize landfill waste. I spent hours finding and downloading the documentation on a website organized around 3D printers! A minor complaint but unnecessary. Overall, I would certainly recommend this product for interested teenagers.

This was a Very Cool, and Fun Electronics Kit that gives an Introduction to the Arduino Process Controller. Everything was Very Well Packaged, in New "Unused" Condition. All of the components come with an ID Card inside of the plastic compartmentalized carrying case. In addition to the Arduino with the Mega2560 Chip, were a host of project items such as LEDs, Resistors, Motors, Jumpers, and a Nice assortment of Sensors. From Motion, to Temperature, to Light Output. The DC Motor, Servo, and the Stepper Motor added an extra touch to the overall enjoyment. I quickly found myself updating the software code (for my own pleasure) for the Stepper Motor and Driver, and have had considerable enjoyment of there use. Elegoo has included a Great Companion CD filled with an Illustrated Guide to Experiments and Coding for the Arduino. The pictures included in the CD really help guide you through the electrical connections for the experiments, to make sure sure you get everything right. Keep in mind that this is an introductory type kit, the beginning learning of Programmable Controllers and Electronics, and how they mix and associate. I am planning on purchasing a few more of these kits for my young relatives that are exploring the world of STEM Learning through their schools. Elegoo has put together a Very Nice Kit with more than an attractive price, and Great Quality. I am really amazed at how will a number of the Amazon Vendors deliver their products for such reasonable pricing with such great delivery of packaging and goods received. The information on the Amazon Site should make it very easy to select Elegoo for as more than just a consideration for the products that they sell. In closing I would like to convey that I have not received any compensation for this review, or for any of the products that I have purchased from Elegoo which include the above mentioned kit and other electronic items. For myself this kit was a great find and great pick.

Fun project for kids to build and learn electronics!

I bought the ELEGOO Mega R3 Ultimate Starter Kit to get hands-on experience with Arduino, and I’m really happy with the purchase. The kit comes with a Mega 2560 board and a huge variety of components like sensors, motors, LEDs, and more. Everything was well-organized in a plastic case, making it easy to keep things sorted. One of the best things about this kit is the tutorial. The step-by-step guides are clear and easy to follow, which is really helpful for beginners. The sample codes work well, and you can tweak them to understand how each component works. The quality of the components is good for the price. Some jumper wires were a bit flimsy, but they still did great job. The Mega 2560 board itself works just like the official Arduino board, and I had no issues connecting it to my laptop. Overall, this is a great kit for anyone who wants to learn electronics and programming with Arduino. It has everything needed to start experimenting and building projects. I would definitely recommend it to beginners and hobbyists.

I have been building electronic projects as a hobby for many years. I purchased this kit to evaluate its possible use in a technology course at a local library. I was very impressed with all the components included for such a low price in this kit. Besides the projects described in the manual, this kit has enough components to do many other projects such as those described on maker web sites. I built the majority of the projects in the manual, using just about every component. Component quality is decent. I didn't run across any defective components, and was able to get all the projects I attempted to work. The manual does a fairly good job of describing how the components work in each project. It's not as detailed of a description as those found on maker sites, but better than the majority similar project manuals I've seen. Projects start simple, but become quite advanced later on. I'm not positive that this would be the best kit for someone who has never touched an electronic component before. It might appear overwhelming to such a person, though they could probably make it work. For someone who knows a little bit about electronics already (say they've already built a project or two) and wishes to learn about microcontrollers it would be great. One thing to be aware of. I used the manual and project code from the CD that came with the kit. There are a couple of projects where the input and output connections shown in the wiring diagram are different from those in the program. Fixing this is trivial, but if you don't notice you may wonder why a project does not work. I see the Elegoo website has an updated manual and project code available for downloading. Perhaps this problem is fixed in the updated version, but I did not verify this.
