Brilliant!
Having used a few OBD Diagnostic readers now, I can’t recommend this Autel Code Reader Diaglink enough. This has diagnosed an EGR fault on my 2011 MK6 Volkswagen Golf which had illuminated the engine management light, stored and cleared the fault without issue, it had also retrieved a fault with the DPF pressure sensor which I wasn’t aware of which was causing the car to attempt to Regen on most journeys. Diagnosing faults can either be done via the OBDll option on the main menu or going through the Scan section of the menu. The OBDll instantly connects to the vehicle and provides you with the basic standard functions such as the code retrieval and removal, live data and a few tests such as the O2 monitor tests (if the vehicle supports that). The Scan menu allows the user to connect to each individual module within the car (Airbag ECU, ABS, Electric Parking Brake, Central Electrics) to perform tests, view live data and retrieve and remove codes which may be in the system. The device has also diagnosed a fault with a Faulty Brake pedal switch on my 2004 Clio Sport 182 which was causing the Cruise Control not to work, this didn’t appear on my Launch Code Reader Tool. The faulty switch has now been replaced and the cruise control now works perfectly. Faults and live data can also be stored directly on the device and reviewed on the device or on a PC using the included software. The item came well packaged and already inside the protective bag which is nice to keep everything together and protected. Items in box: 1*Main Unit 1*OBDII Cable 1*TF Memory Card 1*User Manual 1*Software CD 1*USB Cable 1*Protective Nylon Case Overall this code reader is brilliant, well built, reliable and well-priced (at the time of review it’s currently £89.90). The only drawback that this unit has is the price of the addons, you get one free and each add on after that is $10 maybe this could be a little cheaper? But other than that, it is fantastic.

I bought this as I needed a quick small and easy way to check for fault codes on cars before I work on them. As an auto electrician fitting aftermarket equipment to a wide range of vehicles I sometimes need to re set a airbag light due to having a seat out of a vehicle and this device will do that with ease. It can scan all the modules on most modern cars and show if there is a fault present which is very useful for something of this size and cost. It should be noted that this item DOES NOT come pre installed with software so you will need to activate the unit by setting up a account with Autel which is easy enough to do as for the software packages they are quite reasonably priced at $10 each so for example you could buy the Ford / Mazda package for $10 and it will work on all the Ford / Mazda range of cars and LCVs. Easy to use and cheap enough to buy even for the home user who just wants a way to re set a oil change light or remove a fault code after changing a sensor etc.

Awesome OBD2 tool!
I spent weeks reviewing all sorts of OBD2 readers online and viewing reviews on Youtube etc, and am so glad that I bought this reader...it’s truly one of the best purchases I’ve made in years...it is already saving me way more than the cost of the reader...terrific value! Very quick delivery, and packaged well (ie easy to open). I have tried three other OBD2 readers, one that gave error codes not appropriate for my vehicle, and had not identified the errors I knew I had (and have specifically not rectified the faults that need rectifying until I was confident the code reader was genuinely capable)...and two code readers that worked...but were nowhere near as useful as this scanner, in that the codes were too simple or too generic, my Autel took several minutes on the first scan I made...but wow!...what a wealth of info it provided when finished! And importantly, it is the first reader that identified not only the correct error codes, but equally important to me, was the additional error codes it identified, that I had not been aware of...so can definitely recommend this tool. The Autel is a very well made tool, I expect this to last me years. What I also like about the tool is the information on the error codes make life so much easier...no need to Google codes, this reader brings up the error codes (both generic and specific to manufacturer and model), and identifies what the fault is....awesome! The reader has a nice sized screen that is easy to read. But what I really, really like about this tool is the simplicity in use – it is so well designed, even if you’ve never used an ODE2 code reader before, you’ll feel like a DIY auto diagnostic-expert in no time at all...now if only I could develop my DIY mechanics to match the tool! lol I should mention that I had some problems getting my unit to work on Windows 10 – for some reason it kept crashing the minute I hit the ‘update’ button on the unit. However, the Autel (Ebest-zone) customer services were awesome – my messages were not only replied really fast, but it was clear that Autel take customer services seriously as they went out of their way to not only understand what the problem was, but also to resolve the problem, and I was up and running in no time. I’m aware that sometimes product reviews get overlayed for ‘similar’ products, so to be clear, my unit is the ‘Autel Diaglink (DIY Version of MD802) Code Reader’, and the seller and customer services were from ‘Ebest-zone’. Finally, with so many fake readers out there, this unit is 100% genuine Autel.

Very outdated for the models of car (models up to 2013)
The description of the scanner should clearly state that the models of car are up to 2013. After having spent a lot of time to download the update of the maker of my car (the download process is not user friendly at all), with disbelief I discovered that the scanner for Citroen covers models up to 2013. I don't understand why in the description of the product is written that there are free lifetime updates when instead the newest cars are models of 7 years ago! What kind of updates are these ones? Every update is released every 10 years? And then you should pay another 8 pounds to have another maker with models up to 2013? Nice the idea for a device that does all these things but the reality is that even if your car is not newer than 2013 and you can use it now, as soon as you change the car, unless they will release new updates for more recent models and nobody knows if they will do it, this device is useless

I love it. Having the ability to purchase only the auto makers needed is great. I bought for Volvo (with the included free download) and added BMW for $10. It will accurately read the special manufacturer codes and provide much better information than simple OBDII. On BMW it doesn't provide quite the level of detail that is available from the INPA tool, but it's good enough to get you through diagnostics and gives plenty of information for an Internet search for solutions. I do have a minor complaint about tech support. Whoever I got as my support person didn't know anything at all about BMW and kept stonewalling me when I asked about the ability to connect to the ADS interface on older 20 pin connectors. He just kept telling me that Autel only supports their own products. My basic question was about the availability of an Autel 20 pin adapter for this model. He obviously knew nothing about the fact that BMW has 2 different interfaces and that some of the Autel products do support the 20 pin ADS. My main complaint is that he didn't seem to do any research for the answer. Looks like I'm on my own for that one. UPDATE: I've tried it with an OBD-to-20-pin adapter from another interface I'd gotten from 'that auction site'. It works great! I was able to talk to the airbag module on a 1998 Z3 as well as a 2000 M Roadster. It also communicated with the DME on the Z3. Didin't try the DME on the Roadster. This thing is a must-have for the BMW garage.

Works great does everything it says. Update and software loading proceedure a little painfull you have to register for an account. And it takes an hour or so for your device registration so you can update. You have to insert micro SD into a SD card and plug scanner into computer with USB. Postage from china. Takes 3 weeks and that's with paying for fast shipping. Then I found its available locally in eBay $60 cheaper. But happy with the product

I have a box full of scanners, bluetooth OBD plugs and a laptop full of both OEM and aftermarket software. All of them fill a need and some can do far beyond what this scanner can do, BUT they are a PITA to use or very limited compared to what this unit does. I got this because my E39 has an intermittent no crank start problem. I did a bunch of old school electrical testing and the problem remained elusive. I got this unit, downloaded the BMW module and plugged it in. I saved and cleared a boatload of codes (sort of normal for a 17 year old car) and set about looking at the immobilizer module. I go in and click on about 5 items having to do with the key codes and starter inhibit values and I'm off to the races. The first day the car starts every time so since this doesn't draw much power I leave it plugged in. The next day it says no communications but I can quickly select my 5 items again and it's ready to monitor. The second start attempt I see that the key ID is correct (key 7) but it's code is not OK so the starter is inhibited. I grab another key (3) and the car starts right up. Turn it off and put the first key (7) in and it starts. So I know the problem is in the immobilizer key code process and not something like wiring except possibly the antenna coil. It may be the easy fix is to remove the key completely and far enough away for it to be re-recognized when it is re-inserted or maybe have two keys or remove the chips from the keys and keep a couple of chips around. Still too soon to tell. Apparently if you try a bad key code several times the immobilizer shuts the start process down for a period of time. Trying to troubleshoot this without the insight to the immobilizer values was maddening. Now it's just a matter of figuring out what sequence of events causes the no crank condition. Leaving a laptop up and running for the time periods involved would be very difficult and might result in a broken window and a stolen laptop! Well done Autel!
