We have an 8.5-year-old lab mix who has had three leg surgeries and suffers from chronic arthritis in her back and legs. We also have a 4-year-old basset mix--a breed that is known for developing joint problems as they age, though we haven't experienced that yet. Neither of them suffers from allergies or problematic skin conditions. One of them--the lab mix--is a SUPER picky eater. I decided to try this product 1) as a joint supplement, 2) for gut health (prebiotics, probiotics), 3) as a general supplement to promote overall good health (omegas, etc.), and 4) because I trust this brand. We've been adding it to our basset's food twice a day for the past nine months and to our lab's food for the past three months. First, neither dog has experienced any problems as a result of introducing this product to their diet--i.e.; no vomiting, diarrhea, hives, or other adverse reaction. Second, I do not find the product's odor offensive. Yes, there is an odor; it just doesn't bother me at all, and I was surprised to read complaints about it in these reviews. Third, the taste does not bother my dogs, which is saying a lot. Previously, I have found no product made by any manufacturer and recommended for any reason that my lab would tolerate in her food. We have tried SO MANY supplements and therapeutic treats recommended by our vet, all of which supposedly passed rigorous taste tests, but our girl wouldn't get near them. She won't even eat a treat that is not pure meat. Yet she will allow me to mix a heaping tablespoon of this powder with water in her food twice a day and will snarf it down. In fact, since I started adding this powder to her food, she is eating on her own, instead of making me spoon feed her. That aspect of this product is nothing short of miraculous for us! (My basset mix will eat pretty much anything, so I don't use him as a measure of good taste.) Most importantly, since we started the lab on this supplement a few months ago, we are seeing a noticeable improvement in her mobility. Even though we have moved into the cold months, which are typically quite painful for her, she is limping far less--often not at all--and playing much more and longer with her younger brother. I'm not saying that she's problem or pain free, but she does seem noticeably more comfortable, and, given her history and age, I think that's the best for which we can hope. Otherwise, both dogs are healthy and happy. Our basset had his annual exam six months after he started on this supplement, and his blood-work came back "perfect". Can't ask for better than that! I will continue this powder and will recommend it to others as a healthy, palatable food supplement for lucky dogs.

My golden in the summer gets allergies which was mainly why I tried this. This does seem to be getting better even though I'm still working up to his full dose. An expected improvement is with the summer heat. We normally scale down his walk and or do multiple rests and stay in mostly shade. He had has fur trimmed as usually with not much difference to how well he handles the heat. Since I've started with this we are back to our normal length walks. Yesterday was 80+- which would be a short walk or walking in the water/swimming. I didn't even think about it until after but we did just about our normal walk. Not only that but I stopped him not the other way for water and rests. Which were much much shorter than usual. His digestion seems better as well so far after a week. I'll know better on that when there's more time to see if it's a coincidence or not. Really likes the fish as well.

Have been using the fish food topper for about 3 weeks and his coat is shiny. Less dandruff and it appears to be helping his allergies from flaring up. It does stink like fish, the powder is messy but he almost refuses to eat until I add the topper, water and stir it all up with his food. I just ordered another package. The packaging needs some work. The resealable closure does not stay closed at all. I finally dumped the contents of the bag into an empty coffee can. Highly suggest to the manufacturer to put the powder in a coffee can style container for ease of use. Also instructions mention a scoop however no scoop was included.

Our 6 German Shepherds get this twice a day on their food. We mix it with water and warm it in the microwave before pouring overtop. We started off slow in case of upset tummy but are up to 1/2 cup of powder and then mixed with water which does both meals for all of the dogs. I pick up the yard minimum of twice a day and there is a vast difference in what I am picking up. No more messy poop just perfect poop! I do think the itchy paws have been reduced as well but we are on 2.5 months of this product so time will tell. Our dogs do prefer the fish flavor over the pork. I do not like the pork smell once mixed with water. Definitely cheaper than wet food and a much cleaner yard!!!!!!

Great product. Ive been feeding my boy this supplement with his redgular food for about 2 months now. His fur is way more soft and shiny now. It also seems to be helping him out with his dry and itchy skin. I would have rated this product 5 stars but the latest bag i received wont zip closed, ive had this in the past with one of my last 2 shipments and fixed those no problem, but this newest one just wont close no matter what. Still highly recommend

Our Rottie has eaten this since she was a puppy. She is severely allergic to chicken so we have to be very careful what we feed her. She eats a raw diet along with this topper. She doesn’t have bad gas like her breed is known for, her poops are small and not ridiculously smelly, and the vet loves how good her joints looked on her last X-rays. I cannot recommend this supplement enough! Her coat is shiny and she has plenty of energy (too much! lol) Our cats (7) are pretty finicky and don’t eat it immediately like our Rottie but still lick it up by the end of the day. We are very happy with the results for our pup and will always feed her this supplement.

My dog used to be on all kinds of pain products prescribed by his vet since as he got older he would have a hard time getting up and down after a walk. I started adding this to his food when he was 10 years old and was able to take him off all prescription pain meds! He’s 15 years old now and still loves his walks without the pain afterwards. Great product!

My dogs love their food even more with this stuff. One of my American Bullies had flaky skin and got bumps all over his back when he was a puppy. We tried omega fatty acid capsules but they were too big and messy so we tried this out instead. His skin improved after about one month using this product alone! Allergy meds didn't help him, he was super itchy and now his coat is shiny, flake free and no more scratching. The vet was very impressed when she last saw his coat. I give it to the rest of my dogs as well (2 pugs and another bully). Only thing is it smells too fishy but it's not for me to eat anyway, and with the bag sealed you can't smell it so it doesn't stink up your house. Definitely recommend.
