Funny Story

My favourite book from Emily Henry, and I read five of them.. I loved the deep feelings of betrayal and anguish that connected the two characters and I felt them with them. I also loved that we got to explore other types of relationships the two main characters where experiencing and that their stories intertwined and crossed somehow. To me, this is definitely the best book from Henry yet!

Empecé hace un año a mejorar mi hábito de la lectura. Compré este libro el año pasado y lo dejé pasando. Hasta hoy, ha sido uno de mis favoritos. Genuinamente me reí de las ocurrencias de los personajes, lloré con sus penas, me angustié con sus pensamientos! Está súper lindo! Me encantó! Es de esos libros que vale la pena volver q leer una y mil veces más. Es encantador! Tiene buenos mensajes y no solo del amor. Realmente lo recomiendo

I finally picked up my first Emily Henry book, and I should’ve done it way sooner. This was the sweetest thing! The setting and people gave me this nostalgia for a place I’ve never been. Every little moment, every outing, every cozy shared silence or interaction, touched my heart. The conversations and banter were just so amazing -- funny, real, wholesome. I adored the chemistry, not just between the main characters but with the entire cast. "𝑰 𝒔𝒆𝒆 𝒉𝒊𝒎 𝒍𝒂𝒖𝒈𝒉 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒄𝒂𝒏'𝒕 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝒊𝒕, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑰 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍 𝒓𝒐𝒃𝒃𝒆𝒅 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅." And Miles... He’s impossible not to love. Charming, effortlessly funny, kind, selfless, adventurous, and just full of light. Like Daphne says, he is a beam of sunshine in the dark, blessing everyone around him. Everything felt natural: the connection, the pull, the hesitation, the shared grief and slow healing. Nothing was rushed. Just two people finding comfort and something more, step by step. Ci sono autori che riescono a creare libri che in qualche modo "parlano di te". Questo è sicuramente il caso di Emily Henry, almeno per quanto mi riguarda. Funny Story è un romanzo che mi ha conquistata fin dalle prime pagine, con un ritmo calmo ma allo stesso tempo privo di "punti morti", in cui oltre a vedere nascere la storia d'amore tra Miles e Daphne, seguiamo il riprendersi di quest'ultima della propria sicurezza personale, in una sorta di ripresa a vivere davvero. Ho amato Daphne per tutte le sue paure e le sue insicurezze, probabilmente perché molto simile a me, e non ho potuto fare altro che soffrire e gioire con lei dall'inizio alla fine. Consiglio anche l'audiolibro in lingua perchè Julia Whelan ha fatto davvero un bellissimo lavoro.

I seem to have a love-hate relationship with Emily Henry's books. This one falls more on the negative side of that spectrum. It's marketed as fake dating, yet the fake dating basically stops at aprox. chapter 5. So I felt bamboozled. I also don't buy these two MCs loving each other and there was no gratification for the main plot. I just read a few hundred pages of trauma dumping with a watered down romance that could've been hilarious with a revenge plot, but alas, the author didn't go that way.
