A true upgrade in every way
After years of using “standard” metal hobby knives switching to this Excel handle has been a complete game-changer. It is without a doubt the best hobby knife I have ever owned. It is among the more “expensive” knives but it’s worth it. The first thing you'll notice is the comfort. The soft, cushioned grip is a massive improvement, especially during long modeling sessions. It completely eliminates hand fatigue, and the shape prevents it from rolling off my desk which is a simple but brilliant feature. The blade-locking mechanism tightens from the back, not the front, which provides a more secure grip on the blade. I use standard #11 blades from various brands, and they all lock in rock-solid. The overall build quality is excellent. I have used it for 2+ years now and it still is like new. If you're still using one of those old-school metal handles do yourself a favor and upgrade. This knife is superior in comfort and control. It's a fantastic tool that's worth every penny.

This is the GOAT
This to me is the greatest hobby knife on the planet. It feels good and really holds the blade. Every knife Excel makes is absolutely wonderful.

Comfortable handle, excellent lid.
My crafting and art business goes through a LOT of #11 blades, and I've personally tried every handle I have come across over the last 20+ years, searching for a few criteria to make a good craft knife blade handle. First, how comfortable is it in your hand in various grips; then, how good does it hold the blade, is there enough tension to hold the blade securely; next, how good are the materials it is made out of, and is the central stem going to break under pressure; lastly, how good is the lid that protects you and everything else from the blade when the knife is not in use. These handles work well for ALL of these criteria, and so far, we haven't broken one yet. The internal aluminum stem is usually the weak point, and the ones in these handles seem heavy and well cast. They grip the blades well, and we have not had any blades slipping out. These handles are comfortable to hold in a variety of grips, and the coating has a good amount of squish while still allowing for control. And the lids, oh how we all love the lids! Too many knife handles have the lids designed as a kind of afterthought, and they either fall off right from the bat, or wear out quickly and don't stay on. There are some lids where you have to have the blade lined up a particular way. I even found a lid design that is dangerous to put on the blade. (Looking at you, new Exacto handle.) The lid for this Excel handle is simply a round cap that fits with a nice tight tolerance on the round bezel of the knife handle, meaning it is easy to put on, and does not look like it will loosen up or break any time soon. Plus, the lids are not made from a brittle plastic that would be likely to break. All of this equals a knife handle that is pleasant to use, keep on our work table, and travel with. Already purchased two for the business, and the next time we break an older handle, it's getting replaced with one of these Excel handles. And thank you Excel for having basic black as a color option!

Perfect for detailed craft cutting!
I used this Excel blade to cut out a Halloween craft and it worked perfectly! The blade is super sharp and easy to control, it made clean, smooth cuts through card stock without tearing or fraying the edges. The handle is comfortable to hold, even for small detailed work. Definitely a must-have tool for any paper crafter!

Great knife
The blade is super sharp and the handle is comfortable to use. I also like that it comes with a cap. I just wish that it came with an extra blade or two
