Those sardines are delicious, with all the spices inside it gives a complex taste that is totally different from the average sardines. When I eat them I eat 2 cans at a time, nice breakfast....And good price also....!!

These are fantastic. I wanted something high-quality for everyday eating so I could stop dipping into my "expensive" stash, and these are the perfect solution. They compare well to other high quality spiced sardines. Great texture, wonderful spice, and a quality buy when bought in bulk. Highly recommended for any sardine lover’s pantry.

I bought these to compare to Nuri's Spiced Sardines which are like the industry standard for quality and value. I think on Amazon these are a bit too expensive and would recommend shelling out the extra dollar for a tin of Nuri's. Currently with 5 sardines for $18 that's $3.60 while Nuris if you buy them in a 10 pack are roughly $4.60. I think these are quite a solid contender against Nuri's if you can find them locally or cheaper. I've purchased them at specific markets for like $2 and at that price I'd be eating them more frequently. On the sardines themselves; they can have the occasional scale so be careful. They aren't the most visually appealing tin but I don't judge a book by its cover. The oil is pretty well flavored but unlike Nuri's I don't think I'd sop it up with bread. It does have a good flavor, I wouldn't say they are too spicy even as a midwesterner. The fish has a pretty good texture and holds together well. They aren't unpleasantly fishy, with a clean smell, and are nicely meaty. I found the cans easy to open but it's very rare for me to meet a tin I have trouble with. Overall they're an above average sardine! I would never turn down a tin of Flower's sardines but if shopping on amazon I would pay the extra $1 a tin and go for Nuri's.

Amazing bang for your buck. Spiced and seasoned perfectly. A few scales here and there. Texture is as good as it gets. Not quite as pretty as Nuri’s but I prefer Flower’s texture and flavor. Less than 1/3 the price in bulk. The 50 pack will go faster than you think.

If you’ve found this review, you are probably asking yourself, “How are these compared to the Nuri spiced?”. Flower packs a boat load of flavor in this tin at a very reasonable price. The clove, bay leaf, and hot pepper come through nice and strong, but still in balance with each other. Watch out for that errant clove pushed into a fish like a tack, it'll ruin your day if you find it the hard way. The oil is good, not on par with the gold standard brands, but it doesn’t matter as much with heavily spiced tins like these. When opened, you’ll find a tightly packed tin of classic Moroccan sardines. They are roughed up, and will be a disappointment if you are looking for that perfect silvery skin and careful packing you’ll find standard in most Portuguese tins. The fish are firm, but just a touch dry to my taste. Texturally, they tend to crumble more than flake, and expect them to break easily upon removal from the tin. If you’re eating on bread or adding to a salad, that’s not really a problem at all. Size is just about perfect, almost always 4 to a tin. Now the real question, are they a Nuri? No, they’re not in the same league. Are they half as good as Nuri? No, they’re much better than that, especially when price gets factored in. These live somewhere in the middle, and that’s not at all a bad place to be. These get a solid buy recommendation from me and deserve at least a shot to find a permanent spot in your pantry. They’ve got one in ours.
