Wow, this was my first time using an at home perm and it was amazing. I permed my pre-teen son's hair and this perm solution set was great. The curls came out very robust and impressive. No, perms do not smell good. I don't think one that does even exists. But we ventilated the room and it was fine. This kit DOES NOT COME WITH EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO PERM. It comes with the solution and a processing cap. You will also need to buy curling papers, rods, a sectioning comb, clips to hold hair back, and the roll of cotton that keeps the solution from dripping into the face. All-on-all, much more cost effective than a perm at a salon, even with the extra items needed. I recommend!
