ECG not working
Took Life subscription just for ECG but not working, tried 30 times, and spend more than 2hours reading topics and trying everything but not working. Will ask for downgrade or even refund and get apple watch. Very disappointed. You guys should fix this ASAP.

Great Device
Honestly just a great device however I would like it more if there were less athlete and celebrity collabs, thus a cheaper and a more accessible price for everyone.

Powerful insights, but subscription model & support hold it back
I’ve been using the WHOOP 5.0 with the 12-month membership for a few weeks now, and overall it’s a mixed bag. There are some real strengths, but also a few drawbacks you should know before you commit. ✅ What I like Comfort & design The band is light, discreet, and easy to wear all day. It doesn’t feel bulky, and wearing it in sleep or during workouts is unintrusive. Battery life & charging convenience The battery lasts impressively long (I’ve only needed to charge a few times in weeks of use). The wireless / modular charging setup is also a plus — you don’t constantly have to remove the device. Actionable metrics & insights The app gives you daily scores for sleep, recovery, and strain (how hard your body is working). Over time, these help you understand when to push and when to rest. Plus, the new Healthspan / Whoop Age / Pace of Aging features are interesting — it’s cool to see how your habits influence long-term wellness, even though the metric is still evolving. Holistic health focus It doesn’t try to be everything (GPS, daily steps, etc.). Instead, it zeroes in on biometrics and recovery, which is its forte. ⚠️ What could be better (and what to watch out for) Subscription cost & tiers The mandatory membership model is a big downside. You’re locked in to paying to access the features, even if you stop using the hardware. The newer tiered model (One, Peak, Life) means some health features are behind higher-priced tiers. Some users have complained about unclear upgrade policies and what’s included. (This has caused backlash in the WHOOP community.) DC Rainmaker +2 The Verge +2 Customer service & activation issues A few reviews mention problems with membership activation and unhelpful support responses. For example, despite purchasing the device + membership via Amazon, some users struggled to get their membership properly activated. Amazon If you run into any setup or billing problems, be persistent with support. Accessory compatibility & forced upgrades Some older WHOOP 4.0 straps are not compatible with the 5.0, meaning you may need to buy new bands. Also, the upgrade path to 5.0 had controversy around whether it would be free for existing users or require paying/adding to membership. The Verge +2 Wikipedia +2 Accuracy quirks & missing live metrics Because the device focuses on recovery and internal biometrics, it’s not ideal for real-time workout metrics (pace, distance) — you'll typically need a phone or other device for that. Some users report discrepancies in calorie estimates or heart rate spikes not being captured fully. Amazon +2 DC Rainmaker +2 Over-optimization / guilt factor The app often nudges you toward “ideal” sleep and recovery behaviors, which is great if you want optimization — but it can feel guilt-inducing or rigid if you prefer more flexibility in your lifestyle. TechRadar +1 🎯 Verdict & recommendation If you're a serious athlete, someone deeply invested in recovery, performance, and long-term health optimization, the WHOOP 5.0 + 12-month membership can offer valuable insights you won’t easily get elsewhere. The strength lies in the depth of data, patterns over time, and guidance on rest vs strain. However, if you want a one-time purchase wearable, or don’t want to be locked into subscriptions, or prefer more live metrics (pace, distance etc.) built in, you might prefer a more flexible tracker or smartwatch. In short: it’s a powerful tool — but not a magic bullet. Know what you're paying for, be ready for occasional friction in support, and let the insights guide you (not guilt you).

This wearable is the pioneer in focussing on recovery and sleep. I can understand the concern about the renewal fee, but this truly does give you major results. If you’re not someone who is willing to spend a time every day to input as much as you possibly can into this app, then you will not see the results you want. The more you feed into it the more it can do for you. The strength trainer part is really cool too because it can recommend workouts for you or you can pick your own workouts and put them together in the list. Each workout also has a video to show you how to do it so you can do it at home. If you Journal every day it gives you a real results about how it affects you. Sometimes you don’t realize what foods can actually affect you or how alcohol/coffee can affect you. If you take supplements, you can input them and it’ll show you how it affects your recovery. If you’re someone who likes the gamify things, this can be a real game changer. You get out what you put in. Want to know what a sauna does to your body? Want to know what a cold shower does for your recovery? Want to know how much strain your muscles are specifically going through when you’re lifting weights? Want to know what the best stretch routine routines are for morning and night? It’ll give you everything you want. It’s honestly changed my life.
