I use these for power connection to devices I am making which use readily available power cubes. This size is pretty much standard for the 5VDC & 6VDC power cubes which are readily available - often for free.

I use these to convert from AA and AAA battery power on my wife's Christmas village pieces to USB power via a USB-A to 3.5mm power cable. The cables I use fit snugly into these jacks. The one thing I really like is that the plug doesn't extend too far behind the panel face, allowing me to convert most villages pieces using these jacks. Price is reasonable for the quantity, quality and delivery time.
