This is one of the better textbooks I've had to read. It's very informative but not in a dry, "here's some information, let me make it as uninteresting as possible" sort of way. It comes with a CD of meditations that I have had to use for class, the meditations cover a variety of methods so you are able to find one that works.

There is a lot of homeopathic advice in this book that may not suit many individuals. The author assumes certain financial expectations. Some of the content is just plain wrong if you look at research within the last 10 years and the lessons are kind of hokey. Some of the self reflection activities are excellent but I wouldn't say that it's worth pulling the trigger based on the few activities I found interesting. You're probably buying this because it's a requirement for class. If you have any friends in the class, share the book. There isn't enough content here to bother having your own copy.

This text is an easy read, succinct, and has a nice summary at the end of each chapter. The exercises reinforce the information offered in each chapter.

I took this class twice . I did not like the text. Repetitive questions and a waste of time. saw no difference in stress level. Also I re-rented the book before deadline but they charged me for purchase ( 5x the price of the used book without the disc that belonged with it) . I was about to return it last week and noticed the charge!, I literally threw away 150 dollars! I didnt print anything so no proof. A word of caution..... print everything!

This textbook is not very well written, it presents information without citation all over it as well as using some terminology that is not the common usage: for example, using the abbreviation CHD as Coronary Heart Disease instead of the much more common CAD for Coronary Artery Disease (CHD is more commonly used for Congenital Heart Defect or Canine Hip Dysplasia). Also, there is much opinion and slant to the text as well: the paragraph regarding GMO's uses the terms 'Frankenfoods" and "playing God" within the same short text! The exercises are not very well written or thought out, and contain redundant questions within them: as a result, they are useless as any measurement. Lastly, there is a blatant plug for one of the author's personal counselors in Chapter 22 (page 294)! At this pricepoint, I would expect a better researched and cited text, without the op-ed views.
