Shun Premier 9" Combination Honing Steel

I have a Shun Premier Chef's Knife with a scary sharp 16% edge. I had this same knife years ago and used a regular honing steel on it, and it was always guess work to try an keep that factory edge. I don't care how good you are, nobody's achieving a perfect 16% edge without an angle guide. This let's me hone my expensive blade with confidence. Very happy I bought it.

If you have a need for sharpened knives or your cutlery require continuous sharpening, this is the item for you.... Elegant well balanced perfect weight and very well built. Don't waste your time on the market when this is perfect!

This honing steel is absolutely perfect, as all Shun products are. I’d like to highlight the seller though. Initially, there was a minor issue with the engraving, but they immediately fixed it and had a new one in my mailbox before I even realized they responded to my email. *Mine WAS Authentic* After receiving the honing rod, I too noticed the wood wasn’t as nice/glossy as my other Shun Premiers. No engraving on bottom, and overall build quality seemed to be lacking. I then read reviews questioning authenticity. I returned it, and ordered it on William Sonoma. It’s the EXACT SAME. Same box, same quality, no papers in box either. Buy from Amazon with confidence. I just wasted a couple weeks of my life. 4 stars because the quality differs from Shun Premier knives. Maybe the honing rods are made elsewhere???

The Shu Sharping steel is a must, you can remove any rolled edge, sharpen and hone to original sharpness.

This is my first honing steel, and I really love what it does for my kitchen knives. It has done an excellent job of keeping them nice and sharp, and it feels really solid. It has a good feel in the hand, and it looks very nice.

We are slowly replacing our older knives with Shun knives, so I wanted the sharpening steel as well. I'm very pleased with this steel. Our older steel was much heavier than this one, and some of the comments about this being a little on the thin side are accurate. This does not feel nearly as solid in the hand as some of the other steals I've used. In fact, it's very light and graceful, just like the line of knives we've been buying. It matches our Shun knives, and it's a great quality product.

Great steel, as stated before it is made in China but if you check with Shun directly that is where it is supposed to be made and it is done under their highest standards..

Love anything Shun! And of course a perfect accompaniment to my Shun knives.

Product arrived broken. It was shipped in a regular paper envelope with no padding. The finishing on the handle also felt rough and cheap. Definitely not smooth and refined like my premier knives.
