I purchased this straightener/crimper to use for root lift and volume in my long, baby-fine blonde hair. I don’t like to back comb much because over time it will damage my fine hair. This is a great little alternative hair hack from the 80s. No way would I pay $140 for Voloom. I don’t crimp the hair that will show. I decide where my hair is gonna be parted and I take a section of hair about 3/4 of an inch to each side of my part and clip that whole section away. Then I crimp just at the roots of the hair that will lay underneath the hair I have clipped up. I divide the hair I’m crimping into two or three layers and crimp each layer separately which really gets the roots lifted nicely. I first spray a little Kenra 19 heat protectant with hold on my roots, comb through it gently and let it dry for a few seconds and then I do one pass with the crimper for about 4 seconds, lay that section up on top of my head and do the section underneath. I did not purchase this to use as a flat iron because I have a flat iron that I like, but it’ll be nice to have a back up. I like that there are several different sizes of crimp available by changing the plates. I will experiment with which plates work best. It was very easy to change the plates and it feels like they’re in there securely. I noticed some reviews talked about it getting very hot and burning your hands and hair. It’s a ceramic hot tool, so yes, you need to protect your hair and your hands. I used it on the lowest heat setting and it worked great. The heat settings are measured in Celsius. I used 160°C, which is 320°F. (Take Celsius degrees and multiply times 1.8 and then add 32 to get Fahrenheit.) It has a plastic housing so it would likely crack if it gets dropped or has too much weight on it. That’s about what I expected for 20 bucks. Great value for the money. It is fast and easy to do what I want to do with it. It isn’t heavy or bulky. It heats up quickly. I like that it came with a black velvet bag for storage and travel.

This hair crimper is of excellent quality and heats up really fast and makes styling really quick and easy.The size is also appropriate and it comes with different interchangeable plates for different styling on occasions and you can curl,straighten or flaunt wavy hair with this crimper.it is very easy to use and doesn't make the hair frizzy and leaves hair shiny and soft and the curls also surprisingly last longer when I use this .I would highly recommend this crimper as it is reasonably priced and gets the job done very quickly and easily and plus helps u multiple with just this product.

I love this thing! I have thin hair that can look flat and doesn't hold curls very well. This crimper adds volume and texture. I have tried crimp plates so far. I have only used the second heat setting on myself (160C) and it really lasts, hair look fabulous after using it. This device is a crimper and a straightener, all in one, so seems really good value.The plates slide on and off the styler, grooves underneath holding the plates in place, then just plug in and use the button on the inside to choose the temperature required. It heats up really quickly, even when using the highest temperature setting. The added volume at the roots of hair is allowing me to get one more day in between washes because my hair isn't laying flat against my scalp, I'm getting a heat protectant spray because I'm using this thing way more than I expected to. I suggest that you does not need to stay on hair for more than a second or two and you don't have to squeeze hard. (Crimp in small sections) It just need a little more practice I suppose.

this is an awesome product! it is easy to use, the temp settings make it easy to get lasting result. i would like it to be a bit wider because i have very thick hair and could use more space... but it still did the job. it performed much better than any crimper i have used in the past... also it comes with small, med, large and straight plates that are interchangeable and a heat glove for your hand. extremely satisfied... would def recomand

It is actually pretty nice and does a good job. It gets really hot, so be mindful of that;however, it does not over heat the handle. The issue with this, really is just the strength you need in your hands to keep it closed. Someone who suffers from fibromyalgia (like myself and mother) or who has arthritis would find this very hard to use. Either way, for the price it does a good job. I used the biggest crimper option and it looked great! Would have been better if I had of not been rushing through the process because my hands got sore lol. Also, it can be a little tricky when first switching out the different irons. Turn it on its side and where you see the indents pull as hard as you can lol
