KEF LSX II Wireless HiFi Speaker System (Mineral White)

The KEF speakers are a remarkable addition to any home audio setup, especially in a 15’ x 20’ room. Despite their compact size, they deliver an impressive powerhouse performance. I found the setup process incredibly straightforward; within just 5 minutes, I was streaming music seamlessly. These speakers are perfect for dinner music—soft, mellow, and with an adequate bass presence that doesn't require any equalization. Their design does away with unnecessary dials and switches, yet they manage to produce spectacular sound quality even at low volumes. An unconventional setup I tried involved placing the KEFs on desktop stands positioned on the floor opposite a fairly live wall. This configuration created an expansive soundstage reminiscent of a small jazz bar experience. In my opinion, these speakers are truly the bargain of the century. Their performance, ease of use, and sound quality make them an unbeatable choice for any music lover.

Got these today. Bought a “used” pair from Amazon for $1000. Set them up and had them working in about 10 minutes. Streaming Airplay. I noticed some dropouts when the speakers were in wireless mode, which was solved by the speaker cable interconnect and the “cable” setting in the app. Great audiophile-grade sound for the money. Definitely recommend so far. Will experiment with Roon connectivity next and report back if any issues.

Once connected to the network and accessible via the KEF Connect app, you are off and running for a superb listening experience. I have them connected to a Mac Studio via USB-C. And whether I use them with iTunes or Audirvāna, the sound of my library of hi-res music is amazing. In a small office, the bass is more than sufficient and the mid and upper range and detail is some of the best I have heard. The downside is that I came close to having to return the speakers since getting them connected to my office network was almost impossible. (And I do believe that using these without first getting them configured over the network via the KEF Connect app is impossible.) Our office Wi-Fi network requires a unique, secured setup to join the network, and I was unable to get this to work with the LSX IIs. And our hardwired Ethernet network has required manual configuration of the network parameters, and there is no way to do this on the speakers. As it turned out, our network has recently supported DHCP configuration for hard-wired Ethernet connections, and this saved the day. Therefore, once I plugged in the cat-6 cable, I was able to connect using the iOS KEF Connect app installed on the Mac Studio running MacOS. The app saw the speaker, and I was off and running to audio heaven. Bottom line: A rating of 5 if you get it connected properly. And if you don’t, a rating of 0 for a 20lb brick.

I own an entry-level audiophile system (in a different room) for which I've spent as much on the power cords and interconnects than these speakers cost... But my gosh are they incredible. The sonic clarity is stunning at any price. Can not recommend highly enough. Combine with one of their subwoofers (in this case the smallest Kube 8b)... and this system is beyond what I'd hoped.

Had for a year. Sound is good. But set up is awful. Does not work well on wifi and lots of back and forth between the app and your source. this is not a simple intuitive speaker. And definitely not worth the price. Do not recommend at all.
