Dethklok returns this fall with "Metalocalypse: Dethklok Dethablum II", the highly anticipated follow up that fans have been begging for. Metalocalypse, the hit Adult Swim show centers around the biggest, most metalest band in the world, Dethklok. Each episode of Season 2 features a song from the band and the best of those have been expanded to make Dethalbum II, more brutal than ever before. Prepare for an onslaught of bone-crunching Nordic riffs. Review: Seriously what is all the whining about!? - Ok first off having been a metalhead for over 2 decades let me get my 2 cents in...this is a far better album than the 1st in every extent....it has far more technicality, musical quality, sound quality and personality. Nathan's new vocal approach may be different as it never debuted till just now but it's a welcome addition in my eyes and gives the songs it makes it more feeling and far more personality....while I did kind of look down at the fact there were no bonus tracks or live photage I will not take away from the final score of this because all in all you get something more than the original album for a mere 2 dollars more...a DVD with 12 music videos on it for which is mostly quite interesting....with full length videos for Dethklok classics like "Thunderhorse" and "Mermaider"....it's a welcome addition but 2 extra songs and live photage would've been better still....ok back to the cd it starts off with the Sepultura sounding "Bloodlines" a good mid tempo song with a memorable guitar rythm that'll stick in your mind for awhile yet....then you have "The Gears" my personal fave song on the cd with it's catchiness intact and headbanging beat.....then followed by great tracks "Burn the Earth" the incredibly fast "Laser Cannon Deth Sentence" and the hauntingly good "Black Fire Upon Us"...followed by the other tracks and really showing no weakness with a few slower songs towards the end....but all in all this a far more technical and musicall diverse album than the 1st Dethalbum as memorable as it was....Dethklok has evolved from funny cartoon metal band to a serious real life metal band on this album....Dethalbum II has more of everything the first had minus the humor...the songs are more complex, harder hitting and have way more personality....sure some can't get past Nathan's new approach but personally this fan loves it and I think most fans will...IT STILL SOUNDS LIKE DETHKLOK JUST WITH MORE PERSONALITY AND FAR MORE BRUTALITY...a 5 star album hands down. Review: Dethklok Goes Legit - Dethalbum II is very interesting. Judging by lyrics and music, Dethklok is moving towards a more legitimate death metal sound than the first. It seems Brendon Small never expected the first Dethalbum to be as popular as it got, and this time around he decided to go towards a more traditional feel. While it does take away from the comedy of the first album, this one adds a lot. Brendon has truly found his voice as a death metal vocalist, not just Nathan Explosion. The guitar riffs are more advanced this time around, and the drums... just wow. If you're only looking for direct songs from Metalocalypse you may be disappointed. If you want to hear the band behind the show or are a death metal fan you will be pleasantly surprised by the quality of this album (which I would classify as one of the best death metal albums of 2009). And, while it does not include any bonus tracks, the Deluxe Edition does include previously unseen footage of the animated Dethklok from Metalocalypse in music video form. Well worth the extra two dollars.

Great Album!
We can get the obvious out of the way; this album is an album of a band that doesn't actually exist. I purchased the album since I have been a fan of the show and I heard the promotional track "Bloodlines" and loved it. Having received the CD in both the normal and the special edition form, I am proud to say that the album was very well done. It sounds better than the first one did and the tracks just seem to be a bit more original instead of sounding rather generic. It honestly sounds like a real band performing. Definitely worth the buy.

Thank Dethklok I survived listening to this album...
In a recent scientific study 99.98% of people listening to Dethalbum II die... instantly... in a bloody explosion. Survival rate after initial exposure is nominal as long as you head bang constantly. As for the album: - Nathan Explosion graces us with some high pitched growls. Probably the most common cause of instant deth associated with listening to the album. - Skwisgaar makes "demonically fast" seem like "unicornally slow" with his supreme command of a guitar. My fingers bleed just listening to the album. -Not sure if Toki even plays on this album. -Murderface made all sandwiches that were consumed during the making of this album and it really shows. He makes a brutal sandwich. -Pickles never disappoints. What he lacks in hair he makes up in 16th note double bass pedal beats. As for the bonus DVD: Sure we don't get bonus songs but we must be thankful for what Dethklok did give us. A whole set of brutal music videos. These contain original animations that were never shown on Metalocalypse. Murmaider, Hatredcopter and Thunderhorse are extremely brutal. The Murmaider music video is the single most brutal and amazing video my eyes have ever seen. As for the songs: -Bloodlines: Gets you really hooked into the album. If you don't feel like you've been punched in the stomach after listening to this song you must be some kind of God. -The Gears: Just when you thought you could get a break from the metal think again. By now your neck should start getting sore. -Burn The Earth: The solo in this song demands air guitaring. Only your worthless hands will be able to only match 2% of the notes. -Laser Cannon Deth Sentence: The main riff of this song is brutal. -Black Fire Upon Us: The slowest song on the album. This will probably be your local high school's slow dance song for all of the school dances. -Dethsupport: most people must be put on life support at this point in the album... therefore the appropriate song title. -The Cyborg Slayers: My only complaint about this song is that my ears are not efficient enough to hear all of the notes during the solo. Hopefully my cyborg masters will give me a cybernetic implant... -I Tamper With The Evidence At The Murder Site Of Odin: Valhalla recently gained the rights to use this song for their alarm clocks to get everyone in a killing mood first thing in the morning. -Murmaider II: The Water God: Sequel? Check. Brutal? Check. Shredding? Check. Metal? Check. Mermaid? Check. Murder? Check. -Comet Song: What can be more brutal than a fiery deth from above. -Symmetry: This song carries us to the end of the album with a brutal riff... making us feel like we've been chopped into two perfectly symmetrical pieces. -Volcano: If you've made this far into the album you're doing pretty good. Don't let your guard down because you could very well die before listening to the entire album. Brutal end to a brutal album. If you've made it through a listen, repeat over and over into oblivion.

I will review both discs individually. The first disc contains the new Dethalbum 2. It is exactly the same as the standard edition. There was going to be a few extra tracks, but unfortunately it contains only the songs from the standard release. However, that is not a bad thing since this album is a better experience over-all in comparison to the first Dethalbum. Now I liked the first album, but the songs on this disc are more complete and it is obvious that Brendon Small has learned a lot from all of his time working on Metalocalypse. Each track feels more like an individual song and not just an expanded track ripped from the show. The first album was good, but this is the better experience. Murmaider 2 is proof of this. The song is all around better in almost everyway, and a perfect sequel with a great theme. The guitar work and lyrics are geniusly done. Now disc two is the reason why you are reading this review anyways. It contains 52 minutes of video footage. It is actually a collection of music videos from the first season of the show. Now if you own season two on DVD already, then you have the two best videos from this set already. Bloodtrocuted, and Murmaider are on this disk and both are clean and the sound is great. In fact the sound is great for everything on this DVD. If you choose to play-all instead of picking individual songs, you will get some mini footage trying to place all of these videos into a story as if it were an episode of the show. It's nice, but not as good as an actual episode. The other videos unfortunately are not as good as the first two I mentioned. They added a few minutes of new footage to each video, but most of the videos are just expanded footage taken from the show. For a show that prides itself on making sure that each member is as close to acurately animated playing their instruments as possible, it hurts to see Nathan mouthing words when nothing is being sung, or watching the rest of the band in the same poses from the show and other clips we have seen before. They even throw in a bunch of seizure screen flashing moments for "good" effect. At least we finally get to see the Thunderhorse video in it's completed form before Nathan deleted it. Also, the video for Go Forth and Die was very well done with some minimal computer annimation. Overall, it's a good DVD, and if I sound dissapointed with it I must stress that I am NOT DISSAPOINTED. It would have been a bit nicer to have more fresh annimation for the videos but what you get is better than anything the fans have made on YouTube. Finally even though it's not listed on the menu, the final "video" is Fan Song. It is unfortunate that they only show the Dethklok logo while this song plays, as I think the song is one of the best from the first album and deserved a video. But, oh well. I would suggest getting this delux album if you, like me, own both seasons on DVD, the first Dethalbum, and are eagerly awaiting the third season. Otherwise, get the standard edition. Just know that the music is everything you want from a Dethklok album and it makes me all the more excited to see what the Metalocalypse crew will make next.

What can I say. Dethklok did it again, but this time a whole lot better. Compared to the first album, this exceeds it many times over. Overall quality have improved by light years compared to the first album. Crispier sound, better vocals, composition of the songs done brilliantly and just everything. The Dethklok band members and song writers have evolved to a next level with their skills. If you liked the first album, this will not leave you out in the cold! Forefinger and little finger up plus five stars!

Excellent follow-up to the original album and other disc contains the videos from the first (audio only) CD, previously only experienced on Youtube.

Brendon Small kicks all the butts in the universe. Enough said.
