Excellent letter punches. They are very very hard. These are not just for soft material like wood etc but they stamp metal very well including steel. They maintain their shape after use and are tough. The only thing wrong with this set is the box. Its great and it works but dont bump it hard. These letter punches are so tough they are very heavy. The box wont survive even a little drop. Good product though. Will last a long time.

I got this to stamp some letters into a leather journal for a gift for someone. They worked great and held up great. They looked good too. They didn’t show any degradation when I used them so I approve. I would recommend

Quality stamp that tackled aluminum, steel, and brass with ease. The included storage box makes it easy to store when not in use. Great value and I'll be back to get the other sizes.

Worked well. Not as simple as you would expect. Takes multiple wacks while angling the punch from perpendicular. Practice on something. Good value and got the job done.

I have the 5/16 alphabet and number metal stamps. They do stamp metal and wood all right the only thing I do not like is that the numbers are out of proportion. The 5/16 set all the letters and numbers are stretched out up and down, which makes them look weird. Maybe the one eighth stamps will look normal the alphabet stamps the eighth and WIDTH are out of proportion. We’re looking all right for a beginner.

Ho comprato questi punzoni per marcare le parti che compongono i mobili in legno che costruisco. La marcatura aiuta durante la fase di assemblaggio, specialmente dopo aver impregnato il legno e reso quindi invisibili eventuali scritte o segni fatti con strumenti di scrittura. Per il legno questi punzoni sono perfetti, si può decidere il grado di "affondo" desiderato, andando dalla marcatura della lettera (se si martella con meno forza o su legni duri, come il frassino in foto) alla marcatura anche del cerchietto intorno alla lettera (martellando più forte, o su legno meno duri come l'abete in foto). Li ho testati anche su qualche pezzo in metallo che avevo in giro, ho ottenuto un risultato molto soddisfacente su alluminio grezzo e alluminio anodizzato. Ho provato anche su una rondella di acciaio, e la marcatura è risultata pulita, anche se chiaramente poco profonda. Nella foto della rondella in acciaio si vede bene che ogni martellata che ho dato ha spostato leggermente l'incisione, risultando in una serie di incisioni molto fini e ravvicinate. Questo mi porta a dire che un accessorio secondo me indispensabile è un qualche sistema che consenta di mantenere il punzone perfettamente verticale e fermo durante la battitura. Nel posizionare il punzone sul materiale da incidere, si "sente" il momento in cui tutta la superficie del punzone appoggia sul materiale, ma è decisamente difficile mantenere questa verticale mentre si danno le martellate. Sicuramente quando avrò costruito un accessorio di qualche tipo, il risultato sarà migliore. Un'altra cosa che penso migliorerebbe il risultato è l'utilizzo di una sorta di "incudine" sotto il materiale da incidere. Io ho appoggiato il tutto su una superficie in legno, che però secondo me restituisce troppe vibrazioni verso l'alto, causando dei piccoli "rimbalzi" che non aiutano l'incisione. Al netto di tutto quanto detto, lo trovo un ottimo acquisto, soddisfa in pieno il requisito che avevo, i materiali sono di qualità e la confezione è davvero carina, semplice ma costruita con attenzione.

I have a few sets of metal stamps, from PA, in both number and letters and these are far and away a superior quality at a great price. The stamps work well in wood, mild steel and leather. They are well defined as opposed to my other sets which are rougher and not as clear when stamped into material. The box is a well constructed unit with finger joints and a clearly marked index. One thing that is interesting is that they included two 0's (one for an O and one for a 0), but only one 6/9. The second photo shows some testing on annealed O1 tool steel that I use for making knives, using a jig to hold stamps straight. I will also add that you should use a brass hammer to keep the hammer from glancing off the stamp.
