Nice, sharp knife
This review is of the C13 red/black knife, with the san-mai type construction of a central core of a Chinese powder steel that forms the knife edge clad on both sides with 33 layers of a 'Damascus" type stainless steel for 67 reported layers in the blade. First impressions: Nice looking knife. The balance is in/towards the handle. The handle is a slightly different shape than any of my other knives, but it feels good in the hand. The fit and finish of the knife is very nice, the mosaic pin in the handle looks very nice, everything looks nice on this knife. Enough about looks, let's see how it cuts! This is one of the sharpest factory knives that I have ever used! It easily and cleanly sliced through an 11" long piece of newsprint type paper, no drag or 'catches' from an inconsistent sharpening job. This knife is sharp! I'll update this review when I have used the knife for a while, but so far I am impressed.

So Perfect it almost cuts by itself!!!!!
Unbelievably sharp and finely crafted knife. I gave it to my Dad for Christmas and he used it to carve roast beef and couldn't believe how great it was. He said the grip, weight and overall construction were so well suited for his hands....He absolutely loved it!

Undoubtedly the best chef knife I have ever used.
I did get a new knife set, but it didn't include a really heavy chopping knife. This is more of a chef knife, but you know what I mean. You want a very heavy knife, and while the ones I got are really good, nothing had the substantial weight of an excellent forged chef knife. This one is Damascus steel and claims 67 layers of carbon steel. I have no reason to doubt it. The handle too is very high quality. The knife is quite substantial, and while I doubt that is the only thing that tells you of the quality of a knife, it is a good indicator that it's not a stamped steel blade. Of course the proof is in the cutting ability of the knife, isn't it? Well, it didn't disappoint, right out of the box. I have some pics of cutting some tough steak, and also a flat carving ham, and it cut right through both just fine, including the plastic around the ham. It's an excellent knife. I'd love to upload both videos but I can only do one, so I did the ham since it seemed like it was better video. But make no mistake, it holds an excellent edge. As it is very heavy, it doesn't require a lot of effort to drop this blade through food. I am looking forward to using it to chop some onions or similar, but this test on the meat showed me well enough, this is definitely a different experience in knives for me. I have ok knives, but they are not like this. I did make sure to clean it up well, and I also did put some olive oil on a coffee filter and went over it with that. My understanding about these higher quality blades is they will attract rust spots, so I am just going to be safe with this instrument, because it feels like an instrument, and keep it oiled. I may have liked a more traditional looking handle, but quite honestly it is quite nice. It's just more modern looking. It is not a complaint though, there is nothing wrong with the handle. I see no reason not to give this five stars. When I ordered it, it was more like $90. I see there is a much better holiday price on it now, so that is all the more reason that I would have this really excellent knife in my kitchen. 5 stars and it won't even cost you a 100 bucks.
