Works as good as the one it replaced.
I bought this to replace the one that's been on the house for almost 20 years. Years back I had to relocate it to the west side of the house because the cable in the ground developed an open circuit in the common wire and the cable runs under the three car driveway and it would have been a nightmare to try and run a new one thru the attic. Unfortunately the landscaper doesn't always close the tightly and the wind will blow it open and the Arizona sun is unforgiving to LED screens and possibly the age added to its demise. That said, we had a Hunter controller at ou previous house and loved it. When the crappy one on this house became an issue I installed a Hunter like we had. This one is physically not as wide as the on it replaced but the programming is the same. Installed quickly, was easy to program set and done.

Hunter XC600 X-Core 6-Station Outdoor Irrigation Controller Works Well
The Hunter XC600 X-Core 6-Station Outdoor Irrigation Controller is pretty easy to install and works as expected after installation. However, for some reason this timer comes pre-wired with a 120 Volt AC Plug on the end of a power cord instead of there just being a place where you would hard wire the timer to your Romex AC wiring. I bought another 8-Station X-Core timer about three years ago and that one didn't have the AC Power Cord pre-attached. For this recent one they sent me, I had to open the AC connection compartment and cut the provided 120 Volt pigtail out of the circuit and then splice my three Romex wires back into the timer wiring. If you take a look at the provided photo you'll see where the short, Gray conduit is connected to the bottom left side of the timer. I don't know if Hunter sells the same timer without the pigtail and plug for those of us who plan on hard wiring a piece of Romex into the connection compartment. It seems like the pre-wired version would be an option since it costs more money to add the pigtail. In any event, the timer worked fine after I wired it up.

If you live in Texas and want a Hunter, get this one without WiFi
My 19 year old controller started losing functionality about a year ago. I discussed replacement with my professional sprinkler guy and he advised against getting a Hunter replacement with WiFi. He said they just don't work well in Texas. He told me some customers insist on WiFi, but after a while he gets asked to remove the WiFi on every one he installs. Rain in Texas is hit or miss. A 60% chance of rain means at least 40% don't get rain, our rainfall is usually scattered. The WiFi turns off the irrigation based on weather reports that aren't precise enough. This XC600 X-Core doesn't have WiFi. Where I live that's a good thing. Replacing a Hunter with a Hunter is pretty easy. I did it myself and saved $$$.
