Very well made and comes with many extras (though no sling as noted by others - this can cause confusion as it is designated in the owners manual. I use parchment paper). Note: in initial heating cycle I recommend leaving top separate from base as the lid to base seal is very good and burn-off fumes will get trapped. This can be pretty stinky. Works well for small to medium large size loaves. Very worth while purchase if you are into baking bread. BTW- can also possibly be used for oven cooking and brazing as base is about 2-3/4' deep. UPDATE: I do not recommend following the recipes in the owner's manual. I have tried the raisin bread recipe 3 times and it never comes out. Liquid to dry ingredient ration results in too dry a dough. I will not rise properly.

I got this for my mom for Christmas. It’s wonderful! I love the little book that comes with recipes and tips on how to make different breads. All of the products are high quality and the cast iron was easy to season and use. I highly recommend if you want to start making bread I would get this because you get everything you need in one place for an affordable price.

Works so well when lowering my dough into my deep Dutch oven. Heat distributes nicely and I have yet to have a burnt bottom. I can use it for different shapes of loaves, and sizes. I have loved using this during all my sourdough bakes.

This is a nice kit. Had everything I needed to start making bread. Not sure what that bowl is for? It is a lovely Bowl to put a gift in or store cat food?

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Behold: Dutch Oven Sourdough Starter Kit!! This is a true treasure for sourdough alchemists. This kit has everything you need to summon perfect loaves… well, except a scale and a digital thermometer, but that’s just because even magic has limits. The only tiny drawback: if you place your bread directly on the bread sling (even with parchment), the bottom crust emerges heroically dark. If you like that, perfect! I, however, prefer a slightly softer crust, so I use a trivet, and my bread comes out divine every time. Beyond that, this is a complete, ready-to-go setup that makes baking feel like wizardry. I even use it in my sourdough classes — it’s the kit I give to students because it turns mere mortals into bread sorcerers. If you love sourdough, this is your Excalibur.

I have serious kidney disease and our nutritionist strongly recommended us to go with sourdough bread. So I ordered this baking set. Got Starter from friends. Our very first loaf came out GREAT! Lucky. So yummy and healthy. It IS a process but worth it. Great set, and ours DID come with the silicone sling - we got the rectangular loaf set. SO very pleased - and at a great price! LOVE Amazon!
