Not perfect, but very good for the price
EDIT: If you're using this headset on PC there's a little switch on the back of the dongle, change this from XBOX to USB and you will now have the option for Discord Certified inside the Discord audio/video options, this avoids all the issues I had in the beginning. I've been using the AN5X for a few days now, which replaced my broken Blackshark V2 Pro 2023 and overall I prefer it over the more expensive Razer headset. I'll get the bad out of the way first though, and that's the microphone, it's slightly above average for a wireless headset but it's a noticeable downgrade over my Blackshark, it's not even in the same league. I also had major issues with it on Discord, all of my friends commented on how awful I sounded, but when I recorded myself it sounded fine, after a lot of frustration I discovered that I needed to disable noise gate and noise suppression built into Discord, as they seem to conflict with the Sonar software, after doing this my microphone improved 100x, but as I said earlier, it's still not amazing. I would also advise enabling compressor in Sonar and maxing it out, otherwise you'll be extremely quiet on Discord even at 200% volume. I would like to see Steelseries and Discord work together to add the AN5X to the certified list, this would remove the frustration I initially went through. Now onto the good, the headset is very comfortable, the ear pads are extremely soft and even with my big head they fit perfectly with almost no clamping force at all. I can game all day without any ear or head pain at all. Sound quality is good and bad, out of the box they're okay but luckily the Sonar software has the best EQ I've ever used, you can very precisely customize the sound and really bring out the potential of the headset. I would highly recommend that you check out the Youtube channel GadgetryTech, his EQ settings for music made a massive difference, music went from sounding decent to incredible, it was truly night and day. You can also switch between Bluetooth and wireless with a press of a button, so you can use your headset on PC or console and instantly switch to your phone for a call or to listen to music, this works much more seamlessly than on the Blackshark. The Sonar software is very competent and feature rich (on PC at least, you get far less features if you're using the headset on Xbox), and the AN5X comes with over 30 pre-installed EQ presets for different games, with some hits, and some misses. I personally use the Diablo IV, Call of Duty and Fallout 76 ones and they've all been great. I would recommend leaving spatial audio off though, as with all fake surround sound it just doesn't sound right, turning it off keeps the audio pure. I would also increase the clearcast AI noise cancellation to 75%, as my friends could hear me doing stuff in the background at the default 50%. I can't speak to the build quality or durability as I've only had the headset a few days, but it does feel very cheap as it's almost all plastic, which does make it very light (which is a positive in my book), but I cannot say if it will hold up to the test of time, my advice would be to treat it like a newborn baby. One last thing is noise isolation, this is personal preference whether it's a positive or a negative but it doesn't have the best noise isolation, so you can hear yourself speak and other noise around you, which I personally prefer, but if you want full isolation this isn't the headset for you, that being said it does cancel out a decent amount of background noise, just not all of it, and noticeably less than my Blackshark. I think it's the perfect middle ground, where you're not hearing every little thing but you can still hear someone speaking to you or the doorbell ringing. Overall for the price it's a great headset, you could make an argument for a high 4/5 or low 5/5. With a better microphone it would be an absolute slam dunk 5/5. I would have preferred it to retail at £150 MSRP with a better mic, but I'm very conscious of how my mic sounds so I don't become the "bad mic" guy on Discord.

5x wireless headset review
Really happy with this headset. - I like how it works on Xbox Series consoles and PlayStation 5 as I play on both of them. - It’s over ear so your ears fit nicely inside making it comfier. - Light build but isn't flimsy. - Very good battery life. - Audio quality is very good and can hear everything games have to offer (footsteps and bass for example). - The steelseries arctis companion app is great as you can set audio presets for whichever game you play and gives the best audio quality for that specific game. Overall I’d say this headset is good for the price and I’ve had no issues so far (had for a few months).

Great headset let down by too much plastic
Honestly the steelseries line of headsets are fantastic for the feature set offered BUT the build quality is definitely not what I'd recommend especially at this price point it's made of plastic everywhere no metal for ridgidity or strength. The sound is the signature steelseries sound and mic is of great quality, some of the best. The mic is clear and crisp the speakers are clear but not too overpowering in the bass like a beats speaker or turtle beach for instance. These are good headphones for console but the feature set really comes alive on pc with steelseries GG Comfort wise they are very light due to all the plastic used and are relatively comfortable although I would say sizing wise made for smaller heads. Functionally the Xbox variant works on all systems, connecting to Xbox playstation and pc with the flick of a switch on the dongle.

Decent lightweight headset for Consoles.
Great lightweight headset, works flawlessly with my Xbox Series X. Comfortable to wear, decent battery life and a good selection of volume controls and application features. Connects via Bluetooth and 2.4. Not as good as my Hyper X Cloud Alpha wireless with it's 300 hour battery, but I needed a decent lightweight headset for playing on the console lay down so this headset doesn't get in the way or make my head/ears really sweaty. It's not the most premium quality but it feels durable enough, only time will tell. Not sure if the microphone is replaceable if it breaks which is a negative if not, I do prefer detachable microphones. The receiver dongle is atrocious quality and a very strange shape, would be much better if it was USB-A and shaped like the usual stick receivers, that way it could plug directly into the console, not sure why they picked USB-C. The receiver is extremely flimsy and feels like it won't take much at all to snap it. I have mine plugged into the back of an RGB console stand and I've not noticed any audio delay or reduction in quality over running a cable from the Xbox and plugging it into that.

Great quality headphones
Straight out the box they didn't sound that great but after a bit of tweaking in sonar on the desktop app and wow these are pretty impressive. The headphones themselves are really comfortable although the cups are a little on the smaller side but after 3 hours of use they were still comfortable to wear. The cushion is very soft and they don't hug your head to tightly while still being tight enough that they dont move around. I only live in a small flat so cant say how good the range is but certainly didnt have any connection issues at 15-20m through walls. The software is brilliant. I dont really have anything to compare it to as I was using a cheaper pair before with no software and routing my audio through obs to apply filters/noise gates etc. Its so convenient being able to just drag sources to a specific channel and I found the equilizer and surround sound gave me ample options to tweak my audio. It also comes with plenty of presets for games, movies and music which offer a good starting point. The microphone surpassed expectations. It's not the best quality I've ever heard but certainly up there for headphone mics. More than clear enough for voice chat and probably even content creation to begin with. I mostly have been testing using my pc but have set the app up on mobile and it looks pretty useful if you're going to be using console or mobile.

Annoying to use on PC, Mic doesn't work properly, have to install the app
Its comfortable but I genuinely hate this headset already. I got it as it's meant to be multipurpose, I didn't want to keep 3 headsets for meetings/pc/ps5/switch etc. it comes with a dongle you have to switch around depending on what you're using it for - fine. But you also need the app as well for some reason. Sound when using Switch was barely audible but connecting to the pc is where I really lost my temper - connecting via Bluetooth on windows works but there's no sound except the echo of your own breath from the microphone. You have to install the app to change any settings properly and connect via usb dongle (with usbs at a premium on my laptop, this also annoyed me) to get audio, and then the headset appears in the soundbar settings 5 times, which is incredibly annoying when you couple it with the ugly UI of windows (microphone? Chat? Headset? Gaming? Headphones? Which is it???). All five have been tested and all five produce sound ONLY with the dongle plugged in to the pc. The worst thing is the microphone - it picks up every single sound around you, and you can hear it in your own ears as well. I can hear myself SWALLOWING MY OWN SALIVA! I can hear the cars outside my window driving past echoing in my ears...all While videos and games are on at the same time, I dread to think what everyone else can hear. Which means yes it's impossible to connect and use for virtual calls. I have been going back and forth with support to get sound issues fixed but keep getting told "please check the headset is on :-) that's maybe why it won't connect" like bruh it connects, I just don't want to hear myself breathe while I'm usingnit

Best gaming and music headphones ever bought.
Always been a fan of steel series for gaming. However, after the last set of wireless ones were destroyed by the child, I held off and got a pair of cheaper corded ones for him. Anyways, decided to treat myself to these. Was initially attracted to fact they are wireless and are compatible with both ps5 and Xbox. So you can swap the usb dongle between the two with no issues. Gaming- can't fault these for gaming. Near perfect surround sound. Brilliant sound quality. Music - this is where these come into their own. You can quickly change from gaming wireless to Bluetooth and connect to your phone easily. Sound quality is brilliant. Better than my sennheiser headphones and apple air pods pro. Noise cancelling is good. Even with the microphone retracted into headset, it still works brilliantly and everyone spoken to on phone via headphones can hear me clearly. Oh, and these things are loud. Always find that I want to listen to a certain songs (drum n bass) loud, most headphones tap out and I'm left disappointed. Maybe I'm slowly going deaf. But these go loud. So loud I can't listen at full volume. Also, no distortion with bass at full whack. Battery life- in a word, brilliant. I have used these all weekend gaming and listening to music out in garden, walking the dog etc and it's still on 80%. Once a week charge. Additional features- the app is very good, allowing to have different sound presets. Only negative bit is that would be nice if app had a proper graphic equaliser function where can adjust it yourself. All in all, I can't fault these. Superb! A few months later update. Still awesome. Only gripe is on white headphones the ear pads get grubby quickly. Fabric unfortunately. Been better is leather or the fake leather other use. Something wipeable.

Fantastic Headset – Best I've Bought for Gaming
After using the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5X for a few months, I can confidently say this is easily the best gaming headset I've purchased. The spatial audio is incredible — it really adds immersion, especially in FPS and open-world games. The overall sound quality is excellent, with clear highs, rich mids, and a solid punch in the bass. Battery life is another strong point — it lasts a long time between charges, and I rarely have to worry about it running out mid-session. If you're considering this headset, I highly recommend going with the 5X variant. It works seamlessly across all major platforms (Xbox, PlayStation, PC, and Switch), which adds a ton of value and flexibility. All in all, a top-tier headset that’s well worth the investment.
