Gardyn is truly amazing. I did my research on different systems, read the reviews and decided to give Gardyn 4.0 a shot. I have not been disappointed. The product arrived in perfect condition. The packaging was solid, the various parts were held firmly in place and everything was where it should be. It's what you'd expect from quality product. The unpacking was easy and the instructions on setup were great. I highly recommend using the UR code to link to the setup videos. They are each about a minute long and they make the whole thing super simple. Once everything was in place I plugged it in and connected to my wifi. They recommend waiting about 5 minutes the first time you turn it on. After that it took about 2 minutes to go through the process to connect to wifi and I was done. A few tips to make the initial setup easy. Each of the plant pods (they call yCubes) has a position the Gardyn for optimal growing. You can find charts in the app or on their site that will help you place the plants in the perfect spot. They also have a AI system called Kelby. This system does basically everything for you. It turns the lights on/off, waters the plants when they need it and will tell you when to fertilize. I do not have a green thumb so this is perfect for me. It really is a set it and forget it system. I did make a small change on when the lights turned on and off but other than that they are managing the growing. The seeds started to grow in less than a week. I'm a few weeks in and the plants are getting bigger and I will post a picture when everything is ready to harvest. It really is a fun system and I can't wait to have my first salad and tomatoes. Works really well and it’s a constant flow of veggies to harvest. The system is very easy to setup and and link to the app. The app did keep defaulting to another time zone so it was turning the lights on and off at odd hours of the day but once that was updated and saved, it’s been working great. Some of the plants that come with the starter set aren’t the most common ones but they have all grown very well.

I'm swimming in lettuce. This size is too big for one person if you are growing edibles. Monthly subscription is too expensive.

I opened this and with the help of my 12 yr old we were able to set it up in about 30 minutes. I let it do its thing and within a week I have tiny plants growing in my classroom. My particular school does not allow devices to connect to the school wifi unless they are school-owned, so I can't speak to how the app works. I just keep it filled with water and I plan to add some plant food every other week. The plants are a great addition to my classroom. The footprint is small enough that we can enjoy the plants without tripping over the system. The light is bright on the plants so I am confident the plants will do well even in indirect light in my classroom. I am happy with this purchase and would recommend to any teacher for an interesting addition to the classroom. Just check with your IT dept. that you will be able to connect it to WIFI if that is something that is important to you.
