Gift
My husband and son loved it and are so excited that it actually shows the motion of the engine when running!! They are anxious to put theirs together 😊The only thing they both mention is that they wished it were shiny aluminum instead of plastic and I know it would make the price higher; that’s okay😃👍

Customer service
The model is excellent in quality ! .... I would buy another. There were parts missing, but I was offered another one to use as replacement. Couldn't ask for better service than that ! Thank you !!!

It's really great.
Bought this for my "all things mechanical" obsessed teen. It was a big hit. Took several hours to assemble and remains prominently displayed on his desk.

Missing pieces. Twice!
I had to order this motor kit three times because the first two that were shipped were missing pieces. My 9 year old son and husband enjoyed assembling it on the third shipment, but I wouldn’t recommend due to missing pieces multiple times.

Future Mechanical Engineer
My kid put this together in 2 hours. I’m hoping he’s wanting to be a mechanical engineer

Excellent functioning motor
I sent the first one back because it was missing pieces. The second kit was complete, and I thoroughly enjoyed building it. It was challenging, but gratifying.

Interesting model, decent build, but a couple of caveats
This model reminded me of the Visible V-8 model that was made when I was much younger. I think it's the second "Mould King" model that I've made, though what branding has to do with things from the Far East I tend think needs to be taking with a huge grain of salt. The parts molded were a decent copy of Lego parts, and as a clone it went together fairly well. The manual was not a clear as a Lego one, but there were only a couple of places where it was confusing. The bags, numbered 1-6, were able to be opened in order MOSTLY (5 being all chain bits), but were not referenced in the manual, except on the about the fourth unnumbered page when you were supposed to test the motor, and open all the bags if it was good. I found you could just open them in order, as needed when you couldn't find exactly what you needed for the next step (and first bunch of steps took bags 1 + 2). There is no parts listing in the manual or anywhere, and no where else tells you when to open any bag perse. The build was mostly okay, with fitting like Technic Lego, except (and this tends to be somewhat trending of the clone Technic sets) the fit of the + axles tends to be a hit or miss as far as tightness. Not as bad as some, but loose enough in some places that the camshaft drives tend to work their way out of the motor when run for a while, especially on the right-side looking at the face of the motor. The left chain is really loose, but too tight if you remove a link; and there is not an adjustment/tensioner sprocket anywhere. The motor and battery box were perfect and worked very well. Overall I liked the build, though it'd been nicer if the valve covers weren't so "cloudy" so that you could see better the inner action of pistons and camshafts. Besides the fan and drive "belts", they are the only other real working parts of the motor. The fan blade is alittle fragile for running long, as it tends to lose blades at times, and moving it always seems to mess them up also. All parts were there, with 4 small extra parts, and a mini-phillips screwdriver for the opening of the battery box. It takes 6 AAA batteries and I used rechargeables which work fine in it. The GOOD: Decent manual, most parts fit as well as Lego Technic All parts included with 4 small spare parts Mini-screwdriver included to open battery box Interesting action model when built Good looking clear and plated parts The IFFY: + axle fit is not perfect and needs to be for some parts of this model No parts listing or pin tool Little hard to see inner workings due to clouded clear valve covers, that DO NOT come off easily One chain quite loose without any tensioner or such to adjust The BAD: If run very long the camshafts drive axles tend to exit the motor, disconnecting the camshaft ends Sometimes the loose chain jams Fan somewhat fragile

A great model V8 engine
This set is the smallest of Mould King's FOUR internal combustion engine sets (do you hear that, Lego?). i) ~500 piece V8 with pistons and 2 overhead camshafts ii) ~1000 piece W16 with pistons and camshafts iii) ~1800 piece I4 with pistons, camshafts and valve rockers that open/close valves iv) ~2700 piece V8 with pistons, camshafts and valve rockers All are compatible with Lego, with pieces and instructions that are pretty much the same quality. As some have noted, the building methods aren't quite as refined as Lego. As an example, the overhead camshaft of the I4 is built from many small axles when one large one would have been stiffer and thus better. But if you can forgive these kind of foibles, Mould King sets are much better value than Lego. A set of the latter with this many pieces and a motor would cost at least twice as much, if it were available. This set is relatively compact and quite fun to build, with a variety of interesting pieces. Some of the pieces have nice silver plating, giving the engine a realistic appearance when finished, and others are transparent, so you can see the cylinders, the pistons and the overhead camshafts. Unlike the bigger sets, there are no rocker valves, so this small V8 (and the W16) are less good for explaining how engines actually work than the larger sets (the large V8 is like 2 of the I4 sets mounted at an angle, though, so no need to build both unless you're really into engines!). Over the course of six sets, I've never had a problem with missing pieces, but the numbers on the bags don't always correspond to when the bags need to be opened, and I have had a few pieces that were correct except for the color. All in all, an easy set to recommend.
