Absolutely love this CnC from FoxAlien. It arrived well packaged in one box which made it very heavy, it would have been better in two sections. Anyway the CnC was well protected. The instructions to put the pre-prepared parts together were easy to follow and I had the machine up and together within a couple of hours. I got mine in the sale but even at the recommended price this CnC is well worth the money for a starter CnC. You can buy an extension if you want a larger cutting area in the future, my advice is to buy the larger machine to begin with, I wish I had done that but an extension will be next once I get used to running this one correctly. Just one small thing to note, make sure you tighten all the screws tightly because on my first project the vibration quite quickly started to undo the screws and the gantry dropped forward, it gave me quite a fright but I learnt my lesson.

Neat machine to get you into the world of CNC. BEWARE though ...... the learning curve is steep... Good software helps .. You will need that as well as the machine - some of it is cheap...... its cheap for a reason.

I'm new to the cnc world so can only speak from limited experience. The machine seems quite sturdy and heavy once put together. The only thing that seems to have any flex is the table bed, and that's with a sacrificial board screwed onto it. I always use fairly reserved settings and everything was initially good but after a while the bit would falter and go off at a tangent, ruining my work. I bought a new set of drive belts from this site and it's much improved. I also bought the dust shoe which does a great job hooked up to my vacuum cleaner - although it's less effective when used with the longer bits I need for cutting out my clock bodies. All in all I would definitely recommend as a good quality mid range machine. Be prepared to spend a few extra quid on it though.

I ordered this as an upgrade to what i already had. Its like night and day. The 3s is so well built its untrue. The building instructions are really clear and it comes with everything you need right down to a piece of mdf for your first test.

Very poor instructions in fact none relating to machine and software set up. Very poor aftersales although they say they are good at getting you going. Been a nightmare for me and now the machine is out of action and will be sent back.

After spending a couple of months learning on a smaller (super cheap) 3018 machine it was time to step up to a bigger more powerful machine. The 3s seemed to sit in the sweet spot in price vs size scale with the closed loop motors and good size for the money helping out. Was also swayed by a sale at the time for the extension kit! Setup was easy with a good manual and within a couple of hours was up running and in place. The machine is very quiet and fast in operation and vastly more powerful than the 3018 that came before it. Customer service have also been very responsive and helpful when I recently needed a replacement (for a mistake I made!). Overall, very pleased with my purchase, bravo fox alien.

I'm not new to CAM, I've got and have 3D printers and smaller CNC machines so I know a bit about motion systems and CNC in general. I think this is an absolute beauty - hunky chunky motors, a HUGE work area, a good spindle, an excellent control box, and very easy assembly - I was running the test milling files from the supplied USB stick within about 90 minutes of opening the box. The only frustration was getting the drag chains in place, but that was because of my misinterpretation of the images in the manual. The assembly instructions are pretty much spot on and the tools supplied are way better than the usual rough and ready allen keys you get thrown in these days. The worklight is a real bonus, as are the skipless motors and the remarkably beefy Z gantry, which will clearly carry more than the stock spindle. I've used it with UGS and Easel with no problems at all - even the supplied V bits are good quality. The spoilboard is up to scratch and once I trammed the spindle, cutting has been reliable and clean. The power and USB cables are good quality too. The motion system on all axes was orthogonal from the get-go, the belts are pretty much at the ideal tension with no binding, and the steppers run remarkably quietly. Homing has not failed once and step calibration is spot on over the whole of the work area. As far as actual cutting, it really comes up to scratch. The test files mill quickly and cleanly (the dragon file is rather fine, I have to say), and everything I've thrown at it from Easel cuts right first time. So far I've only milled MDF and birchwood ply, which shouldn't be any challenge at all, and it cuts smoothly and reliably. I'm quite cautious with feed rates as a rule so I've not pushed it to chattering point, even at 500mm/min at a depth of 2mm on MDF. I only have a couple of gripes. Firstly I would have loved to see a dust shoe included for the supplied spindle - they're not expensive and it would have really pushed the kit to the next level. Secondly I would have appreciated a larger (or more) blank stock to test out on - that's a more minor point, since this is unlikely to be anyone's first foray into CNC and most people will have some scrap stock around to tinker with, but it just would have been nice. In summary, if you're looking to get into milling larger items or want to explore more exotic materials, I think this machine is a real winner. Even the paint job was spotless and visually quite appealing. It's a formidable home milling machine which would fit well in a small commercial operation, and I feel sure it has abilities I'm yet to discover in terms of speed and flexibility. It's not cheap, but I think you can see where pretty much every penny goes. Very much recommended.

Brilliant machine for starting out, will be upgrading the bed size to move onto bigger projects. No regrets buying this!

Is a great product and sturdy. Easy to put together. The customer service is great and they get back to you right away. It's a great product to learn on. The spindle that comes with it works good. But I'm going to put a trim router on it to get more out of it.

If anyone is interested in owning a CNC and new to the world of CNC as I am, this is the CNC machine to seriously consider. FoxAlien Masuter 3S is very impressive with its flexibility, power, and is so nearly plug and play, totally impressive product. The unit is well built, so far after several weeks of ownership, will not bog down during cuts, and works well with several different G-Code programs. There was an issue while unpacking. The dust baffles were missing. I reached out to FoxAlien’s after sale customer service and had an immediate reply and after a couple of emails, the missing baffles were shipped without issue. Definitely will be using FoxAlien for my CNC needs.
