Amazon Basics Smart Plug, Works with Alexa Only, 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, No Hub Required, 4-Pack, White

This is my review of Amazon’s Smart Plugs (2 pack) I have been using “smart” devices for a long time, and still remember all the hoops you had to jump through to get them to work properly. These plugs, only work with Alexa devices, and are as close to plug-and-play as it gets. When I ordered them, I had the option to set them up before they were delivered. I did, and when I received them and plugged them in, they were ready to go. One of the plugs, I use with a lamp that I turn on/off with voice commands, and the other, I use with a routine I wrote that turns on lights 1/2 hour before sundown, and turns them off 1/2 hour after sunrise. They work with a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, and although you might have a newer wireless router, most allow use at this setting. In addition, they are controlled though the Alexa app, and no other software or hubs are required. After several months, they are working without any problems. Good reliable plugs, that are easy set up. I plan on picking up a few more.

These plugs are great, set up routines to control lights but if I have my arms full I can still say Ziggy, turn on Bedroom or Office or whichever. Easy to set up, timer feature is great, plus it works with the app for when I'm away from home but want to check lights, etc. Compact design lets me use outlets behind furniture, too.

These smart plugs are about as straightforward as it gets. Setup was quick — I plugged them in, opened the Alexa app, and they were ready to go within minutes. Adding them to Alexa is so simple that I honestly wish Amazon had made these sooner. I’ve collected a mix of different smart plugs over the years, and these make me want to replace them all just for consistency. The connectivity has been great. Unlike some other brands I’ve tried that drop out every so often, these have stayed connected without issues. I’ve been using them for lamps, a fan, and holiday lights, and they respond instantly to both voice commands and schedules. The compact design is a big plus. They don’t block the second outlet, which makes them much more practical than bulkier plugs. They’re also easy to move from one outlet to another without any hassle. They’re not flashy — just plain white and simple looking — but that’s exactly what I want. They blend into the wall and don’t draw attention. For the value, these are hard to beat. They deliver the same functionality as more expensive brands but without the constant drops, extra apps, or hubs. If your home runs on Alexa, these are the smart plugs to get. Clumsy setup, took multiple tries then had to manually input my wifi network info in. But once they each connected, the process was perfect, working by voice command with my echo devices and Alexa app. My previous smart plugs made a clicking sound when they turned on and off and these are completely silent. Great value for 4 plugs. In case anyone else is having setup issues, when my network didn't show up in the list I choose Manual>WAN>then input the name and password, then it all fell into place.

So simple to install compared to off brand Alexa outlets. Reliable but more expensive but it’s worth it

This thing is awesome. I've found a few uses so far like turning the Christmas lights on and off but it's also great for managing lights in the bedroom at night. I plug all our light emitting electronics into it and the have an automatic shut down at night so the lights don't disrupt our sleep. Highly recommend for an easier sleep without having to remember everything.
