Bought these for the girls (age 8-10) to decorate their wooden bunk bed name plates at camp this year. They worked so perfectly. No paint. No dry time. The colors were vibrant, they colored smoothly and they were so easy for echo e to use and share! Perfect for the activity and for many more later!

These are a lot of fun! They look best used as watercolor paint sticks. Color first the use wet finger or paintbrush. Colors are very bright. I like the case. Unlike most similar sets, the case serves well as a permanent storage or travel case. It is very sturdy and easy to open and set up so all are easy to quickly grab and return.

I got them as a medium for sketches. They are like very soft crayons. When I close the sketchbook, some of the paint transfers to the blank paper, but it doesn't affect the painted areas. The colors are bright but there are two that are different from the package

Absolutely love these. Got them for my daughter and ended up keeping them for myself. Easy to use, quality color and lots of color options.

Vibrant colors, but waxy. The paint is too waxy to doodle over. Not sure if they are tempera.

I REALLY enjoy these tempera sticks, I've been looking for something I can travel with that are easy and fun that I won't be afraid to break like a neocolor since those are very expensive. I got these on a sale and I'm having a ton of fun with them! They do take a bit longer to dry than a regular tempera but they go on toned paper and white paper well! Compared to some twistable crayons like faber castell-they're very comparable in smoothness and workability with faber castell ones beating them only in that there's way more crayon in there and I feel less worried about using them constantly or for lots of art. Otherwise I really do like them. I saw a review that said that they are gel crayons, these are not gel crayons, they are not oily at all. Gel crayons are water soluble oil pastels which keep them creamy and workable and they do not dry at all. These ARE tempera, which are made with water, pigment and casein. I did some testing with them to make sure. My gel crayon did not ever dry down, these did, they smudged lightly and when you leave them to set, they don't work well with water. While they might not have as much of the quick drying and permanently drying features of large sticks, they are indeed tempera. They feel smoother and less messy, more like a oil pastel than a gel crayon, go on less messy and are a bit more precise I felt like. A few colors weren't exactly what I was expecting, but for such a cheap set of 36, I'm really happy for what I got to noodle around in my sketchbooks.

Many pretty colors and a sturdy carrying case, but definitely not tempera paint. They are gel crayons and don't dry completely.
