An economical and straightforward DIY screening procedure
The production of Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH), a pituitary hormone, stimulates the thyroid gland to produce a cascade of biochemical actions that affect the metabolism of almost every tissue in the body. Testing for TSH levels in the blood is the best initial test for hypothyroidism. Although there is no single level of TSH which indicates the need for clinical action. The comprehensive instructions that come with Berkeley Health's TSH self test kit emphasise that it is only for the detection of TSH, and only in whole blood. Moreover, it does not provide a quantitative measure. The instructions that accompany the test kit are multilingual. I presume to reduce the bulk of paper they come on they are in a miniscule sized print. I needed a magnifying glass to read them. However, they are comprehensive and easily understandable. In brief, after getting everything ready, washing hands and then using the alcohol rub to finally clean the end of a finger, use the "pricker" device to pierce the skin and draw blood. Two of these devices are provided, but this is a single use kit. I was a little apprehensive but the spring loaded needle was painless after all. Very little blood emerged from my finger and I squeezed it to get a little more. Then use the capillary tube to convey blood to the test kit, add two drops of buffer fluid, and wait. Fortunately, my test result showed only the control line, indicating the test was successful. A second "Test" line would have indicated excess TSH and suggested a call to one's physician would be advisable. In summary, Berkely Health's kit worked as advertised. The instructions were easy to follow and the procedure was simple. Nor was the kit expensive. As a DIY self-screening process it is ideal.

Clever little home test, but your finger needs to cooperate
This is a neat, well-thought-out little kit that does exactly what it says on the tin: a quick, at-home screening check for thyroid function (TSH) without having to book appointments, travel, or get prodded in a clinic. Everything you need is included in the box, and the instructions are clear and easy to follow. Once you’ve laid everything out, the process itself is straightforward and the result appears quickly. If you’ve ever used a lateral flow test, the result window will feel very familiar. For the price, it feels like good value and a genuinely convenient option for people who want a simple check at home. Now for the slightly less glamorous part: getting the blood sample. The finger prick itself isn’t painful, but actually persuading your finger to produce enough blood can be a bit of a negotiation. It’s one of those moments where you find yourself squeezing your fingertip and silently encouraging it like it’s being uncooperative on purpose. It does work in the end, but it’s not quite as effortless as the diagrams suggest. It’s also worth understanding what the test does and doesn’t do. This is a screening tool, not a detailed measurement. It indicates whether TSH is above a certain threshold rather than giving precise numbers, so it’s best suited to people who want a general check or reassurance rather than fine-tuned monitoring. Overall, this is a handy, well-designed home test that feels reliable and easy to use once you get past the finger-squeezing stage. Very useful for peace of mind and early checks, just don’t expect your finger to give up blood without a little encouragement.

Good kit for home thyroid check
This test kit is easy to use at home and the instructions are simple to follow. The result appeared quite fast and the process did not feel complicated. I like that it gives a way to check thyroid balance without going to a clinic first. The kit looks good quality and everything needed is included in the box. My only problem is that the pack does not clearly explain that TSH testing is mainly for checking hypothyroidism and many people will not understand this. A clearer note on the front would help buyers know exactly what the test is for. Apart from this the product works . It is useful for anyone who wants to monitor their health between doctor visits. The price is fair for a single test kit. I would recommend it but with better explanation it would be even more helpful.

So simple to use and fast results
This kit is so easy to use. The instructions are a bit mad looking at first and the writing is small but the kit itself is very straightforward and quick to do. The results are fast and appear to be accurate. I’m happy with the kit, it’s great value and I would certainly order another kit from this brand again. Also on a personal note, I hate those blood pricks on the finger, so I did mine on the ankle and it was painless and worked just as well.
