After unboxing the item, connecting drives, cables, and power it worked from the go. The fans are extremely quiet and actually the faint sound from them (rather like a calm breeze type sound) is really quite pleasant and calming.

All metal construction – it should last a lifetime. I can’t fault it. I give it 5 stars.

I've had 2 of these products and both have suffered the same problem, thankfully 1 of them seems to have recovered but the other is a royal pain.Basically, when I start the computer the fans don't spin up properly making it sound like a dentist drill and all the lights flash red and are inaccessible during this state. The only way I've found to get round this is to leave the computer on for a period of time (5-10 mins) and then reboot by which time I'm guessing the drive has warmed up and for some reason resolves the problem.The disappointing thing for me is that the problem developed within 6 months of purchase on both drives which I think is poor and question I have to question the quality of the fan components. If it had happened say 3 years later then I would have put it down to fair wear and tear but not within 6 months.It's a shame because functionality wise they are great, I can get data transfer speeds of a steady 100+ Mbps and I have had no compatibility issues at all.
