My setup is a pc connected to two monitors with a stereo cable from my main monitor to the line in on my pc so that I can mix the audio when I'm playing ps5/steamdeck/switch on my main monitor whilst watching YouTube on my second monitor. I originally had a usb headphone and a soundbar connected to the audio out on my pc. I would then use my streamdeck to change output from headphones to speakers. I have recently invested in some noise cancelling headphones that connect via 3.5mm trs stereo jack, but I have to unplug this for output to the speakers. I also noticed some hum when I moved the mouse. I got this hoping that the output via usb would remove the hum from the mouse movement. This works perfectly. I have this set as the audio out from my pc. My headphones plugged in the front and my speakers in the back and it outputs my pc to both at the same time and has the dial to adjust the volume. The line in on this device will stop the usb input from working, you can't have both at the same time. I'm not an audiophile so the sound quality is good by my standards. The build quality is adequate and so far I have zero problems with it. It takes its power from the USB, so if you just have line in plugged in and no usb, this may be a problem. I have not tested the microphone in. If your headphones have a combined microphone and trrs plug, you may need to purchase a trrs to trs adapter (looks like a Y shaped wire to split the microphone signal from the headphone signal) For my use, this was a great little gamble compared to a much larger sound mixer.

I am no HiFi snob but I have owned a handful of outboard DACs mainly for my main listening area. I purchased this H1 for my desktop to replace an older unit and WOW, what a difference. It sounds so good, I've toyed with the idea of trying it on my main system. This thing is really quiet and detailed sounding. I use it with a Windows PC and some pebble powered desktop speakers. I didn't think I would notice any difference in sound quality through the pebbles but was very surprised. As for the headphones, I must say I've never used a headphone amp. That being said, my Sony MDR v6's have never sounded better. The detail is extremely good, even for my 62 year old ears. As for the volume knob, I really do think it's handy. I love to be able to turn a physical volume knob. The only thing I'm disappointed with is that I was wanting to use the line in as a way to record from my turntable to audacity on my PC. Unfortunately, this unit will not allow this. I have since found a $20 device here on Amazon that will allow for that need. So I will not be returning this. I simply like it too much and don't believe you can get this good of sound for the price for a desktop system. https://a.co/d/02tEYR8X
