Does what it says, and will also work for 10mm grommets in a pinch
Come to find out, snaps wear out. But rather than go and buy a new thing that has those snaps if you can, why not install new ones? There's tools for that, and this one will help you get the old ones out. Also works for 10mm grommets/snaps, but it's tricky and I don't recommend it.

The tool works
I was able to remove 30+ snaps from a boat cover in under an hour. It took some brute force and using several different angles of approach on each snap. The tool got the job done without breaking and with very little wear. Snaps are built to be durable, so dont be disappointed. when you cant cut through them like butter - it takes effort for sure. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I would have liked to have longer, thicker, handles for more squeezing leverage.

Fantastic tool if you work with textile fasteners!
If you work in fabric, leather, or similar materials, you've probably had a snap, eyelet, or rivet set incorrectly, and it can be a royal pain in the butt to remove without marking up your workpiece! These flush-cutting pliers work wonders at getting under tight-fitting fasteners and snipping clean through them. It's honestly surprising that tools like this aren't more widely available given how widespread the use of such fasteners is. I don't know why "Thickness" and "Easy to install" are rating criteria because they don't apply to this tool. However, it's sturdy, has the right geometry, and works great at its intended task. The fact that they're spring-loaded for fatigue resistance and come with a protective cap for the blades is a nice touch! Wish I'd had these years ago. I make knife and tool sheaths out of HDPE polymer sheeting, and it's very easily marked up when trying to remove improperly set fasteners, but these pulled it off with a minimal of marring.
