Works great with the Analogue Pocket Dock!
Bought 2 of these to pair with my Analogue Pocket while docked. You have to update the controller firmware to get it to sync but once done they work perfectly! The buttons even work with the shortcuts on the dock!

Better than the Official Controller
Sega have never made a comfortable controller. There, I've said it! Each console has been burdened by an awkward controller that is Inferior to the equivalent Nintendo console of the time. So imagine my surprise when some gentle, nuanced tweaks to the official controller's design have made it far more comfortable to hold and use. This is now the definitive way to play games on the console.

Terrific Pad
I recently bought one of these directly from 8bitdo, and though it took a little while to arrive, it was completely worth it. I already had one of the black Bluetooth controllers, but there's a certain convenience in having a 2.4G dongle so you can just plug and play. I first tested it on the Mega Drive Mini 2, and it worked perfectly. It also works great on my Mac Mini and PC. Though there's no official mention of it working with the Raspberry Pi, I tried it via RetroPie, and it worked perfectly. The controller feels really comfortable to hold and use. Though the colour scheme is based on a Saturn controller, the shell itself takes after the smaller Japanese version of the Mega Drive 6-button controller, rather than the larger version released here in the UK, so it might be somewhat uncomfortable for those with larger hands. There is a large version of the 6-button MD pad available from Retro-Bit (but if you do try one, go wired, as their batteries are terrible and the pads cannot be used wired). Here on the 8bitdo M30, battery life is great, and it can be used wired. In my experience these are the best modern day Mega Drive controllers.

Wouldn’t work on windows for me
Bought on the basis of reviews stating that these worked wirelessly on PC - 8bitdo states that they don’t, and that’s what I found. Button presses are registered but games don’t actually control properly. Have returned to get the Bluetooth version instead

These pads are terrible
I have tried three of these and they all have left drift.

Issues with PC/Steam Deck
As it came with a USB dongle I just assumed it would be fine on my PC or Steam Deck, I was wrong and now I see it specifically says "for Mini and Switch", so maybe that's my issue. The issue is it has sticky directional inputs (ie a direction will occasionally appear to hold after letting go), and two of the buttons at the bottom appear as the same button and cannot be mapped separately. I swapped this out for the bluetooth version and have none of these issues now. I'd rate lower, but if used on the Mini or Switch, maybe you won't have these issues.

Nice controller. Light, solid. Works fine with my Nintendo Switch, I like it for games like Mario.

8BitDo makes the best retro controllers! Feels solid and the buttons sound great! A perfect pairing for an FPGA or retro console emulator.
