Very nice heavy duty grill. Let’s me light coals in the right hand chamber and make smote which smokes the meat in the big left-hand chamber without excess heat going going into the cooking chamber.

After using an offset smoker for maybe 20 years, I thought I would move to a pellet smoker after losing my eyesight. I knew I could just use an app and keep an eye on temperatures and it would be much easier to control, but I was unaware what I was missing moving away from a stick smoker. After about seven years of doing everything I could to get all the smoke I could and the meat I decided to go back this smoker seemed like a pretty good bang for the buck so I latched on. Now I can say it was pretty easy to put together even for a blind guy and I would also like to say I’m not a big fan of the upper heating rack. I would sure like it if a company just made a rack that you could sit on the top and easily remove this rack. Seems like it sits awful low. I would sure love to be able to get a couple more sides of ribs on a top rack so I’ve got my brother welding me one up right now that I can just put in and takeoff without having to unscrew or finagle the one that is included. That is the main drawback for this smoker for me. The rates are very heavy duty. They don’t seem to fit real well, so after my brother is finished welding up my rack I’m gonna have them welded a couple of extra support braces across the smoker to make sure the racks don’t fall in while they probably won’t. I’d much rather not have to worry about it especially being blind. I can’t see if I push one way too far forward. So whenever I put the heat to it to kind of seal the inside of the smoker and the great the charcoal burned all the way down, which is another thing. I am a big fan of I do like the charcoal great in the large part of the box. If I ever do decide to grill, it will definitely be a plus also being able to slide the ashes out on the hot box side is something I’m a huge fan of. Over the last week I’ve been using smoke tubes and running all my excess pellets in just getting a nice thick layer of smoke put in this thing and yesterday I put on the first brisket with a box full of pecan and mulberry. It pulled the smoke right through and added so much flavor that I have been missing all these years. At the end of the day, this is a great smoker for the price. You can put a great smoke ring on your meat and I’m sure if I ever choose to grill on it I could put all the hamburgers or all the steaks on it. I would 100% suggested just be aware that that warming rack is kind of funky.

I've owned 4 different Chargriller smokers over the past 20 years and the quality of manufacturing has declined beyond what is acceptable for the price or even for basic usability. Parts of the smoker had to be pounded out with a hammer to fix manufacturing flaws which led to the exterior coating cracking, the thermometer probe was bent and broken, the grills do not fit in the body of the smoker and constantly slip off of the braces, and the lid won't properly sit on the body so temperature control is going to be a problem. Overall, I am incredibly disappointed in this purchase and the decline of a once-reputable company.

3rd purchase of this grill/smoker over 20 years of so. About a 10 years until too rusted out to use. But . . we abused ours. We use it with wood. Not recommended due to the very high temps produced by the wood fire. The grill was usually left uncovered & rain activated the acids in leftover wood ash. Treat it nicely (cover from rain & don't burn wood) & it could last years longer.

The smoker/ firebox has been working great and so has the grill . This is not as heavy duty as some of the other side by side smoker/ BBQ grills but being 100 lbs lighter really makes moving it a lot easier . Putting it together was not a big deal all the hardware came in a sealed wrap so all the nuts bolts washers and pins needed for assembly where present. So far I am completely satisfied with this purchase . I know it won’t last 25 years like my last one but hopefully it last a few if I keep it clean and dry .

The grill arrived with scuff marks and a few small scratches. The shelf was so badly bent that it could not be fully screwed onto the main body, and the paint/coating was chipped. The shipping protection consists of only a few, almost cardboard-thin pieces of foam, plastic cover bags, and thin cardboard slipped between some of the larger parts. The grill itself works fine. The smaller one is good for one or two people, with the larger side good for a small get-together/party. I have yet to try smoking
