Child safety, a must have item!
Never realized I needed these until we went to the funeral of a small child who placed the end of an extension cord in her mouth. While these are NOT child safe, meaning the child can easily remove the clips and gain access to the extension cord, they are a child safety item because it will help prevent a child from quickly opening it and causing injury or death with a live extension cord. To make these covers child proof to prevent a child from unplugging the two cords, you can buy some zip ties and zip tie them shut. These would be good for heavy duty cords, they can also be used for Christmas tree lights to prevent a child from unplugging the two cords if you use zip ties. Since these accommodate heavy duty extension cords, they are large for Christmas tree lights, but if you’re looking for safety when it comes to two cords together, it’s better to have large and unsightly than none at all and a freak accident. I currently use these for my generator extension cords. I can safely leave the open end cord covered with this box to prevent my animals from licking the wire once it’s plugged in. My husband also uses them when working with power tools, this keeps the two cords together so they don’t pull apart and reminds him when he unplugs the drill from the extension cord to plug in the sander, not to leave the main cord exposed with power leading to no where. These are great to keep rain off the two cords once plugged together. They have a seal on the opening where the cord goes in, the housing around the box is strong and durable and won’t break if stepped on. It’s very easy to open and close it. The only issue, and it’s not a major issue, is the clips sometimes pop out of the hinge when opening it, it’s very simple to put the clip back in the hinge. I wish they sold smaller ones for Christmas tree lights that are child safe! But nobody knows the dangers of Christmas lights being unjoined by a child and then that child puts the powered cord into their mouth. That is why it’s important if you buy these for that purpose, you just also buy zip ties because these are not child safe, but they are more child safe than using nothing!

Great problem solver. Kept plugs safe and dry.
I have no electrical outlets on the outside of my house. So ran a heavy duty cord from garage to front of house. But was a problem connecting to the plug without moisture getting in. (I tried wrapping with plastic wrap... but not too good). This solved the problem. Tight seal... safe and dry. Easy to do.

Brilliant.
No, they're not IP67 or mil-spec rated. Yes they are cheap plastic with a flimsy rubber gasket that is easily dislodged or damaged - THAT'S THE POINT - these are intended applications where you don't want to spend $50 (each) to protect a $5 connection on a $100 project (actually if you want to get into marine grade / NEMA rated stuff you can go way higher than that). Nor do you want to spend an hour jury-rigging your own. They work perfectly for anything short of submersion (didn't test that), they're wicked inexpensive, super fast and easy to install, and serviceable! What more could you want?

Need color options
Great box to weather proof cords. Wish there was more options of colors. I had to spray paint mine white to blend in with white rocks

Keeps the freezer from being unplugged
We use this to keep our freezer from being unplugged due to no outlet directly next to the freezer. This keeps the extension cord plugged into the freezer very well! Easy to use, love the fact that the case closes for optimal protection.

Worked better than I thought they would!
These really worked! I figured they would work ok, but was prepared to check them periodically to be sure any minor leakage wasn't building up inside the case. To my surprise (and appreciation) there has not been moisture inside of the case yet, even after several days of rain. One of them even ended up inside of a Fire ant mound when the little vermin built their mound right over it! A couple days after poisoning the mound and allowing the thousands of nasties to die, I pulled the cord and waterproof cover out of it, and there was not a speck of dirt, a single ant, or any trace of moisture in it. Can't ask for more than that. Oh, and despite the comments that mention losing the little fastener clips, which ARE NOT an integrated part of the case but a totally separate piece instead, I've had no issue with it. They stay in place pretty well even when open if you're not flopping them around or transporting it somewhere, and they did send a number of spares, which I have not yet had to dip into.

Helpful Aid against water damage
This electrical cord connection outdoor cover works well. It's heavy plastic with removable closure clips. It came with 2 replacement clips. It has a gasket to help against rain. We are using it to protect our covered porch fan cord. Works great.
