It’s wonderfully simple and very effective
This is a very well made trap, it works by the animal tripping a plate that’s connected to a metal rod which, until the trap is triggered, is held in place by the friction between it and a rod holding up the gate. As the plate is moved by the animal, it’s very sensitive, the gate is released and drops down by gravity. It moves quickly as the gate is a good weight. There’s absolutely no way the beast can escape unless you open the gate but, as it drops by gravity, if you turn the trap upside down, the gate would open again by gravity but with the carrying handle, there’s no way that it can accidentally be turned upside down. Most of the other traps use a spring to close the gate and keep it closed; this is simplicity itself because it just uses gravity. So, to conclude, it’s well made with what appear to be good quality materials, is simple to operate and should last for years.

Good sturdy design
Rather pricey, but a good sturdy design that works , good size for squirrels. No instructions, but easy to set once you find out how it operates. Better than the 2 sorts of wire style ones that I borrowed last year, for squirrels that were damaging fruit cage netting. I use pieces of fig roll biscuit ( better than anything that crumbles - which get eaten by ants or mice) with a bit of peanut butter to stop them sliding off the tipping plate, which moves easily. A heavy stone on a bit of board on top, provides shade & stops the squirrel rolling the cage around. Caught first one on day trap arrived.

DO NOT CUT THE SMALL TAG-TIE ON THE SIDE - IS PART OF THE MECHANISM
I thought that the small plastic tag-tie holding the bar connecting the trap door was part of the packaging. It is NOT, it is part of the mechanism. DO NOT CUT IT when you receive this trap. Manufacturer- I suggest you re-design and replace this tag-tie with a more robust method of attachment. Nevertheless, once set up, this humane trap is easy to use and works excellently.

Caught the first squirrel within an hour!
Although more expensive this trap works, easy to set up and well made.

This is a sturdy cage and should be rust free for years
This is a sturdily made cage which should last for years. I caught two grey squirrels within four days.Clearly the tripping mechanism works well. There is however a design issue. There is no partition that you can slide into place halfway along the length of the cage in order to trap the vermin towards the back. So even when I very, very carefully open the door with my gloved hand covering 80% of the exit the pesky thing managed to squirm its way out and escape. This suggested partition also has the effect of confining the squirrel which it doesn’t like and on the video I watched on YouTube when the man on removed the partition from the cage of another design the squirrel shot forward into a waiting sack placed over the open door.(what a good idea.)

Great product
The tag tie referred to in the review written on 30th May 2020 is definitely not part of the mechanism. It is there for packaging and transit. It should be removed!! A means of locking the door shut would be useful. To be certain the vermin was securely in the trap whilst moving it to a different location, far from my garden, to release it would be a huge advantage!

Perfect for large squirrels.
Quality good. Trapped a hedgehog first time out but he was unharmed and went on his way. Reset and caught large squirrel next morning.

Quality is good. A. It on the small side. Easy to install, less easy to put the bait
