Terrasoul Superfoods Mangosteen Fruit Powder (Organic), 6 Ounces

I've never had mangosteen before, but was excited to finally try it. I expected a fruit flavor... this powder has virtually no flavor. Some have said cinnamon, but it's like cinnamon that's really old and has lost all its taste. Just a vague woody flavor... maybe that's a plus for some people? I've just heard so much about how great the fruit tastes that I was excited for something delicious. That said, I feel good after taking it so still giving a high rating. I also wish the packaging had instructions!

It’s the external layer ground up for reducing skin inflammation. The external layer of mangosteen is called “pericarp” where all the beneficial “Xanthones” are. It’s not meant to be tasty and it’s not. If you want the fruit, there are other seller of the juice concentrate variety. Wanted to share this so people don’t miss the point.

Tastes like hill or husk says its fruit but I don’t know…the taste is different from the fruit too much husk or hull.

I have been using this product for months now. I mix a teaspoon each morning in my oatmeal. I started taking this in hopes of helping my eyes and I believe this product has done that. I stopped taking this after I read an article on Mike Adams' website about a huge batch of mangosteen that his lab tested where the results came back with very high lead levels. Before he could complete his testing and retesting to make sure of his results, this big batch of mangosteen powder had been sold to another supplier. This contaminated mangosteen powder is now on the market. Concerned about this I called Terrasoul Superfoods and asked about the lead levels in their mangosteen powder. I was reassured that they third-party test their product and were happy to send me the results of that testing. The results of that testing were lead levels of <0.020 which Mike Adams would rate as a A+++ product. My fears were alleviated and I returned to taking my morning teaspoon of mangosteen powder. In the short time I stopped the product, I noticed my eye problems returning. Now that I am taking it once more, my eyes are feeling better. For those of you considering a mangosteen product, I recommend you do your homework because out there somewhere is a huge big batch of mangosteen powder that is heavily contaminated with lead. Do you homework and make sure the product you decide to buy has been third-party tested.

This product seemed fresh and probably has the nutrient content claimed but if I had realized that they included the rind I would not have bought it. No one in the natural unprocessed world (with the actual whole delicious fruit in hand) eats the rind. It's not instinctual to do so. It looks like it would be disgusting and thanks to tasting this powder, now I know it absolutely is. I love mangosteen and was sad that the delicious taste was absolutely ruined. I don't understand the point. Not everything with nutrients is meant to be eaten by humans. Tree trunk have nutrients and it doesn't mean it's a good idea to start grinding them into powders. Nature makes you attracted to what you are biologically meant to eat when it's in its whole unprocessed state for a reason. Now we've become so disconnected from this that someone actually thinks it's a good idea to process fruit rinds that we'd never eat otherwise so that we can put them into our smoothies (with and extra 8 tablespoons of sugar to mask the flavor lol). I only deducted two stars because I guess it was my fault for not reading the back of the package in the picture before I bought it, but I would never recommend this product.

Tastes awful. Doesn't mix in. I do love this company. They have great products but just not the mangosteen powder.
