battery drain switch
This was easy to fit and has stopped the battery draining over a few days.Isolating the battery has save me having to recharge every few days, works well.

Best custom addition I've made to my C3 Corvette. Since I only drive my classic cars intermittently, my car batteries will drain between drives. I installed knife switches which work great, but they are cumbersome to access every time I want to drive. This remote switch brilliantly solves the issue. The wiring install was simple, but the physical install was a bit tricky (was working in a tight space on a battery that didn't have posts), but I got it to work and wow is it fantastic. Adds a layer of security as well since would be criminals have to bypass the remote switch to activate the battery. Something to be aware of, since the remote has the ability to deactivate the battery at any time, it is possible to cut off the battery while driving, which obviously would be undesirable. I love the convenience of being able to activate/deactivate my battery with the push of my remote. Will be buying more of these. Great value at this price, highly recommend!

It works perfect, I couldn't be happier. The after market remote start for our Fusion can kill my battery in 3 days in winter, so I spent the past year popping the hood to disconnect the negative terminal after each drive. (We only take the car out once a week at most.) That of course meant reconnecting before each trip. No more!!!! I just use the remote for the battery to the turn battery off and on. When I want to go somewhere, I turn the remote on, hit the remote engine start, and the engine comes to life. It is such a joy. Installation is a breeze, the instructions being reasonably clear. My only complaint is that none of the screw or nuts or bolts are the same size. Be prepared for four or five tools. Even so, assembly and installation took 20 minutes at most. If you have the right size tools, it could be half that. I definitely recommend you buy this product. Just remember newer cars may loose certain necessary memory functions when you turn off the battery. My Fusion is from 2010, so this is not a problem.

So here are pictures of the manual with some details and diagrams of what I am talking about. Would be nice if that was in the product description. So if you are an engineer like me this 2 wire cut-off will work on the positive post instead of the negative post for use as a shut-off. In my truck, my negative post is almost impossible to connect to and also I run dual batteries using an auto-isolation circuit so this needed to be set on the positive side of my battery to prevent discharge through the positive cable as the ground is shared between both batteries and the auto-switch is on the positive side and would require a major rewire job. So before you connect anything under the hood this is what you need to do with 86 and 85 the POWER POINTS for the electronics. The connectors for the batter on the outermost of the relay are NOT polarity sensitive so do not care if it is positive or negative or what direction the power is flowing. YOU MUST CHANGE THIS BEFORE YOU CONNECT ANYTHiNG TO USE THIS ON THE POSITIVE POST What the manufacturer did is they tapped the negative 85 using a short wire to the negative post for the circuit side then using a longer wire run 86 to the positive battery post. Then the relay when switched on connects the out port to the negative battery cable for the body ground. As this is ACTUALLY a 2-wire cut-off relay and THOSE 2 wires on 85 and 86 are what MATTER as to how they connect to power, the manufacturer just uses a short cable to the BATTERY SIDE of the cut-off part of the relay and that is what makes it polarity sensitive for negative side use. BUT what you can actually do is connect the relay to the positive post and the output to feed to the rest of the vehicle. the CENTER posts are the ones that you CAN NOT misconnect. To use this on the positive side instead do the following. REVERSE the black and red wires on the center 2(two) connections (85- 86+) so that the negative side 85- is connected to the long red wire that connects to the negative battery post and the positive side 86+ becomes the black short wire that connects to the positive post of the battery. A relay is a Relay or a basic switch that is opened and closed by a magnetic coil being energized and in itself the contacts are not polarity sensitive. It is the electronic circuit on the CENTER post which IS POLARIZED!!! Doing the above or even eliminating the manufacturer cables and electing to use longer red and black cables to provide power to the 85 and 86 on the relay to the correct terminals will allow this to work on the positive side of the battery. Not all installations can use the negative side of the battery in my case I need to be able to cut off the positive side due to the DUAL battery system and shared negative connection. If this is reposted I will add photos of my configuration when the sun comes out as the Delivery was late at night and there was not a lot of light and I have been dealing with the power drain problem for some time and disconnecting and reconnecting my battery using a jump box. In my truck someone tried to jimmy the door locks so instead of replacing them I added power locks and an RFID pad to unlock the doors, there is no other way as there is not a working key lock, it has to be the RFID pad or using the power locks relay via the wireless door lock remote. Have to get access to the hood release which is INSIDE a LOCKED vehicle to then attach the jump pack. I have jump posts on the outside but too much cable causes too much resistance and it will not start with a dead battery and the jump pack with all that cable resistance even using 2 gauge cable is to much resistance for efficient starting. But the door locks will operate.

I had a problem with parasitic drain on my battery on my Dodge Journey. My friend is a mechanic who works for Mercedes Benz and he couldn't find the problem so he suggested a battery kill switch. He installed it and it works great. The main problem I found is that the instructions weren't really clear. My friend, a mechanic figured it out quickly, but again, the instructions are obviously translated to english, so a bit difficult. Also, it was a tough install since the actual battery is just above the wheel well and out of site on the Journey. This unit comes with 2 remotes, a real bonus, but the instructions show 3 different ways they can be programmed to operate. I found that very confusing and unnecessary. The good thing, is that they come programmed so no need to reprogram. Press 'OFF' and the battery disconnects. Press 'ON' and the battery connects. Easy Peasy. The added bonus is that this unit can be used as a battery kill switch to protect your vehicle from being stolen because when activated, the car will not start. The only CON to this is that when you disconnect the battery, you lose the time on the clock. I can live with that. The radio stations remain intact, which is good.
