chestnuts and sweet stuff
My mum used to soak cube cut water chestnuts in this for the desert. It's really a yummy taste, it's not as strong as the green or blue but it is still yummy. It's great to add as a syrup to ice-treats, or you can make the drink like you would with squash (my kids love this). It's really really high in sugar so just be aware when consuming or giving to kids. It's great to add to cakes or jellies, too, to add some flavour (like you would with vanilla extract).

very good
I drank this quite a few times from the street vendors of Bangkok, where it's hugely popular. It's often mixed with soda, crushed ice and fresh lime, and sold simply as a 'red lime soda'. Most reviewers here seem to be making pink milk from it. I thought the Thai version uses rose syrup for this, but who knows. Either way, this syrup has some sort of fruit flavour, but not easy to identify. Maybe hints of strawberry and jackfruit if I had to guess, but there's no equivalent flavour in the UK (except maybe juicy fruit gum). Great value and well packaged.

Brilliant!
Loved a restaurant’s “pink milk” drink, researched and found this. Gives the exact same taste as the restaurant’s drink. Brilliant.

I loved it!
I finally received my order after a mix up where it wasn't delivered by the expected date, however, it was promptly addressed and they redelivered it the next day. Anyway, I bought this after watching a Thai series called SOTUS where on of the main characters (Arthit) loved nom yen (pink milk). I had previously thought it to be normal strawberry milk but it wasn't so I wanted to try out the recipe and make it at home and this sala syrup was one of the main ingredients. It turned out really well, I'd say. I loved it.

Definitely worth the price if you don't have a specialty food store around.
It's absolutely delicious! If you don't like sweet stuff, I'd steer clear- but I adore sweet things so... Its hard to describe the taste though, I want to say its kind of like a creamy tutti frutti when made with milk- if that makes sense?
