Ever tried with pliers to remove that small grooved washer holding spring and pin of brake shoes and slip off every time. I have, until purchasing this tool and completed the job with such ease in a fraction of time, without frustration. Nicely made tool, good value and certainly beats using a pair of pliers and swearing a lot. I had a minor issue when using it on my defender 110. The recess that holds the washer and spring is slightly too deep so you can not get enough compression on the spring. This is simply fixed by trimming 5mm off the end of the recess with an angle grinder. I don't really consider this defect as such, probably just a 'land rover' issue (which you get used to after a while) and it was easily resolved

A cleverly designed tool made to make taking ‘hats’ of rattle pins easier than pliers and brute force ! If you’ve no idea what I’m referring to please ‘move along’. So, does it do the job - yes, certainly easier than pliers and hoping. Is it perfect ‘no’. The strength to remove it put on a hat is considerable so why is the end you push with your palm in any way sharp!! It just doesn’t make sense - OK you’re not going to cut yourself but the whole idea is putting a considerable force through the device and it’s like push down on a metal bottle cap - this clearly hasn’t been thought through. Would I still use the tool, yes but for not a lot of thought it could have been better designed. A harsh 3/5 but it’s only got one job !!!

This is a well made nice-to-have item that is very useful on those pesky little French cars. Normally I drive cars that have discs all round but austerity dictates otherwise at present. Cest la vie

Found this tool easy for removing the washers but very fiddly to install the washers. In the end I resorted to using pliers as I have done in the past. Main problems I had when installing the washers was not being able to see what was happening and having to hold spring, washer in tool whilst holding retaining pin as well.
