Helpful for a nervous kiddo
I have a little one who is nervous about new things. This book has helped him learn about swimming and swim lessons to make him more calm when he gets real swim lessons. It’s also helped me to teach him the swim lessons by referring back to the book and then he wants to try

Cute way to introduce swim skills
When I found this book, I was looking for stories that would help children prepare forms their first swim lesson. As this is written by a swim coach, i felt it was a good choice. What I loved: Describing each of the preliminary swimming skills by animal, makes learning the skill more like play. Also, it provides an opportunity for the child to visualize what that skill should look like. The book provides lots of information for a student from 5-9 years old. Almost all of the information is useful across swim schools. What I didn't love: The book focuses a lot on going underwater, which is the most frequent fear for young kids starting swim lessons. This could potentially cause a setback before a student even gets started and should be held back until fearful swim students get more comfortable in the water.All-Together, this book is a great resource for emergent swimmers.

This book will be a great addition to your family's library! It would also make a fantastic gift. It is easy to read and both entertaining and informative with wonderfully colorful illustrations. Perfect for preparing for and learning to swim. It is sure to become a favorite.I have personally witnessed the methods in this book, and I can attest to the fact that they are highly effective in teaching a child, or anyone, to swim. The techniques in her book are not only fun, but also engaging. Her progressive approach teaches the basic skills needed to become a confident swimmer. I would definitely recommend this book.
