Way too old for current networks
This is many years too old for current PCs Laptops and Tablets. We bought it to connect a old USB Printer to our office network. We had to find a PC with a CD drive to install the necessary software. That PC could print although printer errors appeared before the print started. It then appeared to require the installation CD to be used on every Windows device on the network (our network has laptops with no CD drive). Without installing the software, all the other laptops could see the printer on the network but it was shown as Offline. Our IPads could not even see the printer - the AirPrint application was completely incompatible with this server. The instructions were wholly inadequate. None of the issues we had were mentioned. And it showed how old the product is E.g. compatible versions of Windows ended at Windows 7 (although it did work with Windows 10). Apple instructions were for a Mac and for a current Mac were simply wrong.

Feel like I have been robbed... £58 for this tiny box...
Feel like I have been robbed... £58 for this tiny box... -The build quality is awful considering the price. -A standard USB cable is also NOT included!. -The cheapest mains adaptor I have ever seen!, I was suprised that it didn't break when pushed lightly into wall socket. It has different heads like a travel adaptor socket for different countries - however the 3 pin plug adaptor head is so thin! - the earth terminal pin is not connected its just a thin piece of molded plastic, bending when I pushed it into the socket. After complaining about the build quality and penny pinching - It does actually work.

It works for me on windows 10
We use it on a label printer. On one computer it works after the cd program installed. However, the next computer tale me a bit long to found the printer driver direct from system 32. At the end they both work.

It just works!
I've had a few of these over the years and they just work. I've used them with Zebra label printers, Brother printers, etc. Just plug into the network and connect to a printer with a USB. You don't get a USB cable so you'll need one of those. Great product for printers you need to get on the network that don't have a network connection.

Apparently incompatible with Macs - it connected to printer but nothing would actually print
I bought this because my printer - HP Envy 4527 - kept falling off the wifi every time it went to sleep. I had numerous enthusiastic endorsements for the StarTech USB print server from friends who have them, so I assumed it would be a no-brainer. Sadly, it didn't work for me. I could connect to the print server, and the server confirmed that it was connected to the printer. I could also install the printer on my computer (MacBook Pro) via the print server, but whenever I tried printing, nothing happened. The print manager would say "File successfully sent to printer" but nothing would print. I followed the instructions on the StarTech support site to the letter, but it refused to print anything at all. There is a bit of confusion in the documentation, as there is a list of supported USB printers (dated 2008, so my printer is not on it) but one of the answers in the support section of the website states that it is a universal device so should work on any USB printer. At this point, it is unclear if the issue is a lack of support for MacOS beyond 10.X.X (I am on MacOS 13) or whether my specific printer is not supported. I did check for firmware updates, but my unit was running the current firmware. Regardless, I have had to return it and will need to look into a printer that natively supports Ethernet, which is annoying as they seem to be much more expensive than the USB & wifi ones.

pointless for MACs
tried every configuration - on different OS - even Apple coudn't get it to work. gave up in the end and bought an ethernet enable epson tank printer - expensive but will pay back in saved catridges and my sanity!
