tldr; There's a telephone cable style cord inside the tube. It comes unplugged from the circuit board on at either end. Ordered a used product to test out the features (plant hooks, app) that many others don't have. Plugged in and tested, everything worked. Raised the light to max height to see what I was working with and then unplugged to move to a new location. Noticed the pole did not go down to its shortest height, one extension was staying up around 2 inches and wouldn't go down even with moderate force. Contacted amazon asking to reach the seller to see if they could recommend a fix and amazon offered a full refund after 3 different people, claiming when I bought a new one they would then refund the difference. Before bothering with this decided to test the ports to see if there was power going to leds. Before even getting a chance to I removed the 4 phillips screws on the top of the post and 4 from the bottom of the post to open show either end of the power connectors. The top end had a broken clasp and thus when raising and lowering the connector was pulled off and then the clasp was smashed in the extensions. Put it back together using some tape to hold the connectors on and magic, it works. At some point I will order new connectors and redesign the cords to prevent this issue in the future. ohh and I had to use some string to fish the cord thru pole as it does not want to on its own. So theres a long example for anyone that has a working unit minus the led board and can't figure out why. I gave 3 stars because the cord needs to be redesigned to prevent this failure and because the pump is a fountain style, not the best style for spreading nutrients and making sure all pods get equal treatment.
