HIGHLY DELIGHTED
I am in awe!!! My tank looks absolutely beautiful. I changed a couple of months ago from blue gravel to dorset pea gravel, which i hated from day one, Made the tank so dull. Couldnt even see the ground dwellers. Washing the sand is a lot of work, but so worth it. My bristle nose and corys love it, and stand out in the sand to such an extent, that my better half swears ive sneaked new fish into the tank.It really sparkles under the lights.I removed old gravel over 3 week period, put some in old tights, removed my filters to a bucket with tank water in, used a cup to scoop sand in, left it 30 minutes to settle, replaced filters, put old gravel in tights back in. slightly smoky that night, next morning, crystal clear!!! in a nutshell, i will never go back to gravel again. If youre thinking of changing to sand, go for it, HIGHLY DELIGHTED.

Definitely buy again!
I have only ever had one fish tank before, and as most people do I went with gravel. I never thought it looked that good and it housed a lot of dirt. I have just bought myself a Fluval Spec 19l tank and this sand to put in it, I have to say it looks amazing! I was a little sceptical when I first received it as I looked a sort of dusty brown in the bag. When you put it in though it certainly doesn't look dusty, it looks amazing! More like a natural sand colour. I was really impressed with how easy it was to clean well. All you have to do is put what you need in a new clean bucket(I calculated this to be about 2 litres of sand for my tank). I then put it under the outside tap and set it running. When it was full I put my hand in and swilled it about so the water went cloudy. Keep the tap running until the water clears then swill it about again. Do this until it doesn't become dusty when you put your hand in. It took me 4 cycles for the sand to clear. I wouldn't recommend doing this inside as any sand that escapes could block your drain. When your done simply pour out as much water as you can, then scoop the sand into your tank. Job done. I haven't got any fish in yet as I'm waiting for it to cycle but bits of plant and the like seem to be nicely resting on top of the sand which should make syphoning it clean a doddle, though I haven't tried this yet. Long story short; I'll never use gravel again!

Nice, but needed a good clean
Nice looking, but needs a very very good clean before going into the tank, I thought I'd done a good job cleaning it but still had a lot of detritus once I had it in the tank and filled with water, took a week to clear and settle, I ended up using a water clarifier to polish the water in the end. On my other tank I used a dennerle substrate and didn't have anywhere near the cleaning issues, would recommend going that way if you're not tied to having sand.

Amazing product, great service!!!!! Get in now!
This sand is an absolutely amazing buy. I ordered it and received it within the time stated. It looks breathtakingly beautiful in my tank and is really easy to clean. In the picture, it looks darker than it looks in a lighted tank. The sand is soft and perfect for plants. Fish enjoy rooting around in it, and it doesn't get dirty easily. The price is actually quite competitive when compared to retailer sands, and this product is by a company that provides QUALITY substrates. It won't harm your water and only needs a rinse in cool water before placing in the tank. HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Very light colour
Mine came re-bagged since the original bag was slightly damaged to the point that the sand would have leaked out. And it was very, very dusty. So much so that I wish I had taken it outside before opening the bag. I assume it must have been around awhile and moved a lot, which can generate dust in mineral products. Of course it therefore required many rounds of rinsing. The sand itself suited my aquarium okay. It is quite course and sharp but looks good in my opinion. The colour looks pale (dusty) grey in the bag, but in the tank under light you might think it is a dull white colour it is so bright. I was hoping for a darker, more grey tint, but it still looks good. Would probably look very natural in a saltwater reef set up..

Really nice, but VERY dusty sand.
Very pleased with this sand. Having kept fish for over a decade, I've been through my fair share of substrates, and for the purposes of my cichlid tank, this is my favourite. I was a little concerned when the bags arrived - the contents looked a dirty grey, this was short lived. It took around an hour of rinsing per 8kg to get the large majority of dust removed, and even then, despite adding it carefully to the tank, there was a fair amount of cloudiness for a few hours. Rinse as long as and as thoroughly as you can! It's difficult to clearly represent the colour in photos, and your own lighting will impact the final look - be aware that there is a lot reflected up light, so you may wish to dial down the lighting to avoid stressing your fish. The photos attached demonstrate a pretty accurate representation of how the sand looks in my tank, lit by a 3ft, 30 LED unit. I used 16kgs to provide a fair coverage on a 4ft tank, but probably should have added slightly more.

Some aquarist shop people strongly recommended we Did Not use sand because it would damage ...
We have always used gravel before and did a lot of research before deciding to change. Some aquarist shop people strongly recommended we Did Not use sand because it would damage the barbels on our Corys. Others said it would be better as it is finer and our Corys would like it. On the whole the advice was against - so we decided to give it a go! We set up our new tank with this sand and we are really pleased with it. It looks great, the plants are really growing like crazy, so much so that we have had to trim them down twice and the fish are settled and getting bigger. The Corys snuffle about in the sand all the time especially the albino Corys and they all seem really fine. This sand really shines when the tank lights are on and it looks so clean. It is also easier to see any dirt against the pale colour and clean it up during weekly maintainence. We will never go back to regular gravel.
