UNIONBAY Men's Survivor Belted Cargo Short

I SUPPOSE you could say you get what you pay for, and I paid 20 dollars for shorts I was not hard on, washed minimally in Cold/Cold, and wore approximately 20 times.Exactly 20 times. That is how many times I wore these shorts, before a tear appeared near the top front corner of the left cargo pocket. It's not a stress tear. It's not an area that stretches often, and I almost never put more than an inhaler or pocket knife (close, 3.25 inch handle) in the mini pocket. And yet somehow, a tear simply manifested itself in a place that should have NEVER torn. I didn't play in these, I strictly wore them as part of "nicer" ensembles... I have a pair of Goodwill GAP cargo's that I have been wearing to PLAY in for almost a decade for reference, that still haven't worn through anywhere.To anyone that purchased these shorts on my recommendation, I am terribly sorry, I have led you astray. DO NOT spend more than 10 dollars on these shorts, if you expect them to hold up._________________________________________________________________________________________!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I have had an on-again off-again relationship with Unionbay shorts for the better part of 20 years...They are, frankly, hit and miss in terms of quality, durability, and fit...........I bought these, sight unseen, in my usual size (a 32)They couldn't have been tailored to fit better. Very comfortable, very good stitching.... I think they are a winner overall...Pros:Material feels nice and heavy (should hold up over time.... but it's a bit... grainy? it's almost denim in feel)Perfect fit (they came with a belt, but I will never have to use it. I can fit a thumb in between my waist and the shorts.... they stay up just right)Good length (though I wish that they were MAYBE an inch longer, but I am just nitpicking)Cons:Color isn't as clear in person as it is in the pictures (it's muted in comparison) but it's still a nice dye (I went with Army)On left pocket, there is a sewn on patch that has the Brand name........it's huge in my opinion. I don't really care to advertise for unionbay, and I may actually remove it.

UPDATE: The 2nd pair received was much better quality. The stitching was cleaner and all the velcro tabs were secured in place. Amazon makes the replacement process painless so I didn't have to wait for them to receive the old pair before I got the new pair.I have a couple pairs of Unionbay shorts from department stores and loved the quality and fit for the price. Unfortunately, this pair ordered from Amazon is horrible quality. I wear a 34 waist and the fit is correct, but the thread work is horrendous with loose ends everywhere and 3 velcro tabs are barely hanging on. They haven't even been worn or washed yet, this the quality straight out of the box. The actual fabric quality is decent so it's too bad the sewing is so bad. I'm going to send them back and replace them with the exact item hoping the next pair wasn't made by a drunkard. I'll provide an honest review of the replacement pair as well.

Really nice comfortable shorts. I like the way they stop "above" the knees, not covering them. A lot of pockets, too. If you don't mind that both front lower pockets are open (no Velcro or zipper) and the elongated pockets beside them as shown in my pic are fake, then ok. I also have the Unionbay Bailey shorts where they look the same as these Survivor shorts except the pockets on the Bailey's are closed and the left elongated pocket is functional, so it's up to you which style you want. Both back pockets are also closed with Velcro. And, I like the attached adjustable belt that will easily change with your change in gut size. Very nice looking shorts and highly recommended for wearing anywhere.

Not my 1st pair of Union Bays, so it was not a big surprise they are cut a bit low in the waist for my taste. Having said that, I have worn them several times now & have no complaints. The waist is sized right, the length looks good & the pockets(very important to me)give me a place for everything I like to carry.

Hail yes! I love these shorts so much I bought 4 pair. They never shrink, fit great, look unique, and are very comfortable. I find that the bottom pockets are larger than most cargo shorts which is awesome because I actually use them from time to time. I have a lot of different cargo shorts and these are by far my favorite.

The fit, color, and style are great for me, but the buttons are delicate and fall off easily, but aside from the buttons, durable.

Years ago I had a great pair of shorts that I wore out, my go to shorts if you will. Well I have a new pair of go to shorts to replace them! These shorts are the best ones I have bought in years. Perfect fit not baggy like some and long enough to not look like old man shorts. Enough pockets for stuff that you need and seem very durable. I will probably order another pair and save for when these wear out!

Would have gone one or even 2 sizes smaller. Got 34 bit baggy and after couple hrs of wear stretches to uncomfortable baggy hanging having to really keep it up with belt.Good product overall not bad buy just sizes issue.
