I actually didn't realize that this Light Socket to 3 prong Outlet adaptor actually came with a remote you can use to turn the outlet ON?OFF> I purchased to use in my attac above my garage. It had a single bulb light outlet and I wanter to turn it into an outlet so I could plug in a larger light so it= Could see better in the attic. Since there are no windows I really didn;t want to do electrical work in the dark (or by flashlight) so I purchased this adaptor. When I opened the box I realized that the "switch" shown in the picture is actually a wireless switch that looks like a wall switch. It does not have to be wired into the electicity because it is powered by a battery and it comes with magnets buit into the back of the remote/outlet so it can be placed on a metal object for an easy to access switch control and it also has included wall anchors and screws so you can install it on wood or sheetrock. I plugged a LED lamp into it and leave the power on to the circuit and I just use the "remote" to turn the light on or off. but you can also turn the power off at that main switch and then used remote switch to turn on or off the item plugged into the adaptor

We have an old rental house with a basement light that is on a pull string without a switch, which was a terrible design for a house. You basically have to walk in the dark to pull the string and turn on the light. This device fixes this problem. Very easy to install! Just screw in the wireless adapter between your socket and light, leave the pull switch in the "on" position and mount the switch in a convenient location! Highly recommended!

Pro: It works really well and the Remote has good distance of controlling, I tested it at about 20 ft with no problem. The remote control is attached to the wall mounting plate using magnets inside the remote control so it can easily be removed from the mounting plate if you want. Cons: The AC outlet has Ground prong receptacle but it is NOT connected to anything so I highly suggest that you do not try to power any device that requires safety Ground since you will no longer have any safety Ground to protect you when you plug your device into this AC outlet.

So I actually used this to hack my old style pulldown chain closet light! I install this little beauty to the socket and plugged a string led light that I got, it was an older generation so didn't had the remote, attached it around the door frame from within and viola! I attached the remote switch next to the sliding doors of the closet as well. Everything looks well actually a little too well now my wife started complaining about the paint inside the closet, so I guess I'm going to have to paint it too!

Super-useful product for certain applications where you need a 3 prong receptacle but only have a light bulb socket instead. Plug the adapter into the socket and you have an instant 3-prong receptacle that can be remote operated. Works very well hence the 5 stars. I will update this review if needed based on further experience.
