Regardless of your age now, if you love 70s classic rock, buy this album. Rock radio loves "Wayward Son" and "Dust in the Wind," but the rest of the tracks contribute to recreate a great vibe and represent 70s-early 80s progressive rock. I find myself listening to "The Wall" repeatedly; both the music and lyrics are special. "Song for America" evokes a great vibe also, an American version of 70s Genesis. The band seemed to go in a more commercial direction in 1980, but the tracks still hold up today ; they just don't garner the airplay of the 1976-77 classics. Truth and beauty being eternal, Kansas music, in its entirety, should last forever.

The Best of Kansas was first released around mid Summer 1984 and it included remixed versions of Carry On My Wayward Son & The Wall, an edited version of Song For America and a new song Perfect Lover. The album was an early digital transfer in clocked in at about 47 minutes. Steve Walsh had left the band after Audio Visions in 1980 and John Elefante was brought in as the new singer. Sales had sort of dropped off and Robby Steinhardt left after Vinyl Confessions. The band then put out Drastic Measures after which the band would kind of fall apart for a couple of years. This Best of was released about six months after what were then the band's last shows. The original release always seemed a little too disheveled to me and that it should've been a two lp set. In 1999, the album was remastered and expanded with input from the original band members with a run time of 65 minutes. The remixes were replaced with the original versions, Song For America was the full length album version and the new Elefante song Perfect Lover was dropped for three songs from earlier albums including the live version of Closet Chronicles. Closet Chronicles was left off of early cd versions of Two For the Show due to timing reasons. The 1999 remaster has a much better flow (for me), I do wish that they'd also included Journey from Mariabronn and People of the South Wind.

Hey man, if you like Kansas it is the hit collection. Enough said.

The Best of Kansas is exactly what it says it is. This collection is some of the best this band. This came out in 1984 but the cool news is that they are still touring. Pick this album up, kick back and enjoy some great music from our past.

Ich war begeistert, diese Lieder wieder zu hören. Vom Klang her ist die CD sehr gut, ohne Nebengeräusche - Musikgenuss ist da garantiert.

Ad un costo irrisorio si entra in possesso di un cd ottimamente inciso che raccoglie il meglio dei primi 12 anni di questa, poco conosciuta, band Americana. Band integra, praticamente, dal 1971, spazia tra Rock duro e progrssive. Tutti i brani sono veramente belli e trascinanti. Sonorità tra Gentle Giant, Led Zappelin, Yes e Toto ma senza gli eccessi di altre formazioni come i King Crimson. Apprezzo i Kansas per la chitarra e la voce solista. Inutile dire che la bella "Carry On Wayward Son" è la colonna sonora di Supernatural (il motivo del mio acquisto) ma, non è il brano piu' bello. Song for America e Dust in the Wind sono veramente tanta roba... ma, naturalmente, questo mio giudizio è estremamente soggettivo. Ottimo il packiging e la consegna. Amazon è una garanzia.

Rien que pour le magistral " Dust In The Wind" cet album ce doit d'avoir sa place dans toute discothèque digne de ce nom des vrais amateurs de bon Rock. Comme "Stairway to Heaven" de Led Zep, "Hotel California" des Eagles, ou "Long Train Running" des Doobie Brothers "Dust In The Wind" fait partie des fondations du Rock que l'on écoutera encore dans 100 ans.

Ordered this and four other cd's Sunday night and had them all ripped in my hard drive by Tuesday afternoon. With certain things Amazon can not be beat by any retailer anywhere. Anyways I digress. This is a great cd. Most will know the track titles so what I wish to add that i wish more reviewers would is regarding sound quality. If you are listening to this on your iPhone it may not be AS relevant. However if you have good equipment, I can say the recording on this rendition is of good quality. This can not be said of all the cd or cd turned flac files in my system. Thumbs up all the way!
