Amazing product, amazing company
I have only had this product a few hours and I've already managed to increase my productivity by locking away my phone. I have tried to solve the problem of my phone addiction through just will-power and it has been embarrassingly difficult. Quite frankly, it's been ruining the quality of my life. I am never in the moment because I'm checking my phone every other minute, I rarely get enough sleep because I lay awake in bed till 2 or 3 in the morning just scrolling through social media feeds and when I sit down to work, notifications pop up and once I am distracted my productivity goes out the window. This is a such a simple solution but it's already proved its effectiveness for me and I am so excited to see how it's going to improve my life. Technically, it is very expensive for what it is (a box with lid fitted with a timed locking device) BUT I suppose this gives me incentive to not break it if I am ever feeling desperate for my phone. Plus, if it helps me to break my bad habit, it's worth its weight in gold. The service I have received from the kSafe team has been impeccable. The first one I ordered was in fact faulty and the dial didn't work (I get it, it happens), I emailed the team and Gary got back to me within an hour with a suggested fix which did not work unfortunately. An hour later, he had a new lid sent to be delivered to me. The new lid was delivered to my house LESS THAN 24 HOURS LATER and worked perfectly fine. I am so impressed and did not even have the time to be upset about the first kSafe not working properly. May I add that the correspondence with customer service was also great; I cannot stand when companies mess up themselves and the whole process of getting them to do the right thing and fix it is long and fussy involving cold and unapologetic emails. Gary was quick, polite and competent. (FYI I can't seem to find many other reviews about faulty products so I don't think this is an issue for the company in case this is a worry.) I haven't ever written a review this long before, but I am just genuinely very excited for about this product and very impressed with the customer service. This little box might just be the best thing I have decided to purchase this year!

Solidly made, easy to use and when it's locked it's locked!
I can't say how much this ksafe has helped me. I bought mine one over a year ago and its now become one of those things that I didn't realise I needed until I had it. I suffer from a nerve condition in my neck and it's allowed me to be so much more disciplined with my technology use by locking it away for a few hours so I don't over use it. The first thing worth pointing out it is how solidly built it is. the base is made from solid plastic and it fits/ locks to the lid perfectly. It's just as sturdy and solid now as it was a year ago. I'm not the best at looking after things and it's literally exactly the same as when I bought it, I've not even had to replace the batteries and I use it 2/3 times a day. The other thing about it is that you definitely can't open it once the timer has been set. I've literally tried EVERYTHING from taking the batteries out to attempting to reset it by pressing the the wheel for 20 secs. I had tried a lockbox from a different company before and the door would just fall open if the batteries fell out which annoyingly defeated the purpose of the whole thing. It's also really easy to use. As I find it difficult to press buttons, I am always hesitant before buying anything with buttons/settings incase it gives me pain but it's really easy to use and quite fun. You spin the wheel to the time you want it to open it and then press the wheel down., It then counts down from 5 to 0 before locking. Final thing worth mentioning - it's handy that the lid and base are seperate so you can take the lid off and wash the base seperately. This has probably saved me from ruining the lid as I'm a total slap dash washer-upper and there's no way I wouldn't have ruined the computer in the lid if I had to wash the base whilst the lid was stuck to it. I was racking my brain to think of any improvements but I literally can't think of any. It might be better if it was slightly cheaper, but then would it? I'd rather buy something sturdy that lasts way longer than a sub standard cheap alternative. They've clearly invested a good chunk of the product cost into making something good quality. My motto is you get what you pay for and I'm not wrong yet . . .

I've been looking for something like forever. It does exactly as promised!
This product is fantastic. I have a problem with buying treats and then eating them all in one evening. And also, this is VERY useful for cutting down on...certain other things. Amazon probably wouldn't allow me to be specific but I'm sure you can imagine some things I might mean. A worry I had when I bought it was that during the period when the timer runs down and I get access, I would just take out a lot more than I need and defeat the purpose. But trust me, it's a LOT easier to maintain your willpower for the 20 seconds it takes to remove some things and set it again, than maintain your willpower for days on end. Here are a few more quick thoughts: - The XL is the same price as the normal one so I'd go for that. - A clear base means other people can see what you have inside. This could be slightly embarrassing or even risky depending on what you're hoarding. So I'd go for the white base. - The dial feels very smooth. It's not a high tech piece of equipment by any means but it does everything it needs to. - It's very sturdy! I tried pulling the lid off to test it, no way it will come off unless you take a hammer to it and smash it up. So in conclusion I would absolutely recommend this. The ONLY two "negatives" are as follows: - The price is quite high at £40, but I think it's worth it if you're going to be using it for a few months at least. - If you're *extremely* addicted to whatever you're keeping, you might end up smashing it to get inside, and wasting your money. I stress though, this will probably only happen if you literally can't function without your stuff. 9.5/10

Excellent, apart from the Price
This product is extremely sturdy and robust and locks by sliding 2 thin pieces of plastic, from the lid, into the base. The timer is so easy to use and allows the user 5 seconds to cancel the proposed time before locking, which I find to be very helpful. The product comes with clear instructions on how to use, as well as batteries (which is a very nice touch) that are supposed to last 6 months (I am yet to verify this statement). I have given this product 4 stars because of the price: I believe that the product could be a lot cheaper for what it is worth BUT after opening the Kitchen Safe and assessing the build quality, I am pleased to say that the robustness and design is that of an expensive, luxury product that is worth paying a bit more for. However, £70 is still too much for a plastic box despite the quality and excellent craftsmanship.

Cure to my iphone addition!
For me my main addiction is my phone, however I like how the product is so versatile that you can use it to store other items to which you are addicted. The following are my review points: Pros: 1) It's large enough to store a good quantity of items (in my case I could store multiple devices in there) 2) It's easy to use, just turn the knob to set the timer, click it to start the process (5 seconds) which allows you time to cancel it in case you've made any mistakes. 3) The timer can go up to days as well!! Although I would probably just need it for a max of half a day :) 4) It has a nice sleek design and has various colored tops, so at least it has an appeal factor on top of it's performance quality. 5) One major thing I was really impressed with is that I found out you could remove the batteries whilst the box is locked, so I thought that this may be a huge potential flaw in the item but upon removing the batteries the box was still locked and when I put them back in the timer didnt reset, it simply resumed as if nothing happened. I'm very impressed with that. 6) The box seems very durable, although I'm not stupid enough to pry it open or break the product which I've spent considerable money on xD, so I'm assuming if you accidentally dropped it it will remain intact. 7) And finally, yes it has actually helped me reduce my iphone usage especially during evenings where I would spend hours and harm my sleep as a result, thus enabling me to engage in more value adding activities. Cons (potential recommendation points): 1) Batteries as the power source. So that means you have to be well-stocked on batteries (although I'm not sure what the power consumption of the device is) which essentially means there is maintenance costs and time involved. 2) There is no power-off button which I'm dissapointed in, I mean most devices (even battery powered ones) have an off-switch xD! So how I resolve that is by literally removing the batteries from the device to prevent unnecessary usage of the batteries when I'm not using it. 3) Would love to see future models which can be recharged instead of relying on batteries. That would be great, would definitely invest in that, even if it's slightly priced higher.

Works too well
I wish there was a mechanism for early opening in case you lock something away too long like a passcode or key you could give a trusted person. Build quality isn't great it's plastic so you could break it if you really want to. It's a nice idea but I wouldn't say it was worth the price.

Perfect product!
Perfect for keeping those temptations locked away! Has worked wonders in our house as its set to open after dinner time so the good things are only available after everyone's had a decent meal first, and no more nagging as there is no way to get too them befor hand. Once something has been chosen we lock it again for the following evening. Product it self is study and display is simple, as are mechanism. Only thing that I would like to see added would be a battery life indicator so you know when battery are about to run out. However it is likely the batteries will run out when locking and unlocking as that uses more power than a count down timer. (If you lock the box for a week and batteries die half way throught timer, but you don't notice untill you expect it to be opening, the box will remebr the time left befor they died when you replace the batteries. So you'll have to wait a that extra time for it to open) The battery life on the box is very good, have been using it daily for a year and they are still going. So the issue of them dying halfway through use (when locked) is extremely unlikely.

A brilliant gadget when used sensibly.
This gadget is brilliant and I would give it ten stars if I could. We use it to help us control our alcohol consumption. We put our bottles in a locked box and put the key to the box in the Kitchen Safe. We set the safe to open first thing in the morning (when we have no interest in drinking alcohol!), decide how much, if any, we want to get out for the evening, and then put the keys back in the safe until the next morning. We thought it was a bit expensive just for a box to lock our key away in but it has already paid for itself as we now drink less alcohol. It is well made and nice to handle. The timer works well. When setting it, you can turn the dial backwards as well as forwards which is useful. We don't normally keep unhealthy food in the house so that we can't eat it and we experimented with buying and locking away some chocolate but that didn't work. Our normal strategy of not buying it in the first place means that we almost never eat it, but locking it away meant that we started to eat a bit every day so we quickly reverted to not buying it. I would definitely recommend the Kitchen Safe.
