Needs updating
This book is very comprehensive, but due to it being published in 2000, it fails to come cover some systems used in more recent bikes, eg. The CAN-bus system used by BMW

Motorcycle Electrical Techbook
Great starter book with lots of info, only black and white pictures but that's to be expected with a paper back version. Great price.

Good content, very useful for the average home mechanic BUT the quality? Dear me, did Haynes scour the world for the worst paper quality? It is best described as having 'patina', and resembles something you would find in the bottom of an antique cupboard. One other improvement I would suggest is the layout. The book dives straight into a chapter by chapter review of various electrical components (Battery, Coil, Magneto, CDI etc) whereas I think it would have benefitted from an introduction that explained (in straightforward terms) the wiring loom as a whole, the main circuits therein, and the function and relationship of the principle components, then go into detail of each component/element. I would give this 4 stars were it not for the fact that the bean counters at Haynes are clearly seeking to squeeze every last penny out of the paying customer in respect of the print and paper quality, and thus have created a useful but shoddy reference manual.
