Shannon and Amanda have perfectly paired their talents to create a book with so much high quality content. It’s as in depth as a textbook (but WAY more fun!) This book is perfect for beginners and advanced artists alike. They teach you the basics and beyond; how to make/prep chalkboards, create faux calligraphy, mix fonts, add gridlines, design elements AND beautiful in-depth illustrations. I have been lettering for about a year now, but all of my chalk projects in the past have been a shot in the dark, off center and didn’t last. After reading this book I can go into projects confidently. I’ve already seen so much progress in my lettering and illustrations and now finally have the techniques to make my chalkboard dreams a reality! Aside from the content, the physical book is amazing quality. It’s hard cover is gorgeous and each page has high quality color images, which is hard to find in many art books. And I love the spiral binding and lay flat layout, which is so helpful for following steps and saving space on your desk. I’m going to always keep this book within reach as a reference for lettering styles, alphabets, design elements and inspiration! I find it so helpful how they teach you everything you need to know, but still share a step-by-step how they make their final pieces. I've been learning to letter for the last couple of years, both digitally and with pen and ink. I've always admired the gorgeous handlettered chalk art that seems to be popping up everywhere and wanted to dabble with chalk myself, but didn't know where to start. This book is the perfect introduction to chalk art that I've been looking for. It covers everything from the tools you need to get started to design and illustration. Since I got the book, I've been enjoying just flipping through each page. The artwork is gorgeous! The quality of the book itself is also impressive. I love that it's spiral bound with a sturdy hard cover. This makes it easy to lay flat while I work, so I can refer back to it easily. Chalk Art & Lettering 101 is such a great book. Not only is it beautiful to look at and feel, but it’s designed for ease of use — eg, it has a lay-flat spine and large, clear pages. With so many different alphabet styles on display, there’s a ton to learn just in basic lettering. But there are great design ideas too, including banners, borders, leaves, flowers, and flourishing, each with step-by-step instructions, so even if your artwork doesn’t look as good as the authors’ (and most won’t), you have a clear understanding of what to try and what to practice. I recommend this book for anyone who wants to keep practicing their lettering, has little experience with chalk, and/or who has more to learn. Chalk Art & Lettering 101 is absolutely amazing and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to learn how to letter or draw on chalkboards. I’ve always been too intimidated to letter on a chalkboard, so I was very eager to get this book, and it is fabulous! To begin, the book is spiral bound which is very helpful because the pages lay flat and you don’t have to struggle and attempt to hold open the book while trying to letter on the chalkboard. This book covers everything! Not only does it go into prepping your chalkboard to avoid that weird ghosting of previous designs but it goes into different lettering styles and illustrations and much much more. I was pleasantly surprised when page after page kept revealing even more content. Even if you've never lettered before, don't worry, this book breaks it down for you! My very first chalk project was on a 2‘ x 3‘ large chalkboard and this book definitely prepared me to complete a very impressive welcome sign. This book gave me the confidence to work on such a big project! Thank you Amanda and Shannon for creating such an amazing resource! You ladies definitely thought of everything! Very good durable quality. I was wanting more info of basics for painting. But good book

I love absolutely everything about this book! I was so excited to receive this purchase and once I did, it certainly did not disappoint. The gorgeous cover is only a taste of what was to come. Each page only got more beautiful and the step-by-step guides popped out making it so easy to follow along. I love how the book is bound so that the pages completely open up and lay flat, making it easier to follow as a guide. This book is one that I have been waiting for to take my chalk art to the next level. Shannon and Amanda clearly put their hearts in to this book and it truly shines through. This is such a great book! Really detailed how-to’s with lots of pictures that are easy to follow on. If you’re serious about getting into lettering consider Amanda’s online classes, they make your lettering go from ok to brilliant! Thanks for creating this!!

Es un libro muuuy muuuy muuy bonito. Su calidad en cuanto a anillado, pastas, hojas interiores... es inmejorable. Me gusta que no solo se centra en el lettering, sino que enseña a dibujar otras muchas cosas como hojas, flores, flechas...

Me encantó. Está muy completo y muy bien explicado. La pasta es dura y las hojas son de muy buena calidad, ya que son mate y te evitan brillos molestos al leer y ver las ilustraciones. Uno de los mejores libros de lettering e INCLUSO de dibujo básico . Llegó rápido y en buenas condiciones. Cien por ciento satisfecha con mi compra.
