Does the camera on the SR 330 give you live footage on your smart phone (whether the alarm is triggered or not) ?

No, it only takes a snapshot when the alarm is triggered...or when you ask it to. Not live video.

Can this alarm (or app) contact the police if required? ie alarm sounds, you identify that it is a genuine emergency; is there an option to call help?

NO the police will not allow any direct contact......Please review ARC (alarm response centres). these are companies that monitor alarm systems and will contact police on your behalf.

I keep hearing that the server is only guaranteed by yale until 2018. What does anyone know about this?

If both this camera pir and door/ window contact are in the same room and door contact triggers alarm fist , will the camera still capture images

I don't know as I didn't buy camera but Yale are on twitter and are good at giving answers. My guess is yes as the alarmsystem is triggered and won't stop till reset.
